I'm not gonna lie, I had transferred my hopes for 2011 from Vertigo to the supposed American 2000AD launch, which turned out to be a horn-swaggle made of flim-flam and bunkum. So now I'm back.

Sadly we don't know what Vertigo's new standards are. The new Corporate Structure at DC Entertainment has yet to be established, and I would bet you that's coming with a new threshold, titles like DMZ (which is ending next year) and Scalped will probably get grandfathered in, but IZombie is far too young to enjoy such benefits.

Hell, the fact that IZombie isn't going to benefit from the "ease of entry" Price Point of $9.99 is something that raises eyebrows. This is going to have to compete with Morning Glories that'll be released for $9.99 (plus released in such a manner that catching up will be possible), and the result of that competition may not work out for Vertigo.

Why do I have this BAD feeling that IZombie might get Unknown Soldier'd?

A 2 year run for iZombie would be pretty good, IMO. I know I'll be ready for Allred to go back to Madman by then. Heck, nothing against iZombie, but I'm ready for him to go back to Madman now.

Scalped seems to have some type of immunity on the low sales since they keep promising Aaron 8-12 issues at a time and trade sales don't appear to be anything extraordinary. I would imagine it'll reach it's natural conclusion in the next 18-20 issues assuming DC lets it.

Last issue is super late.

Not really Vertigo's fault though, Morrison didn't turn in the script until the last week of November.

I gather Scalped does well outside the DM, and I imagine that iZombie and AV both have the potential to do the same. With comics taking a big hit lately and Vertigo having not produced a new Y, Fables or even DMZ level hit for a while the imprint will have to hope that the Vertigo brand will carry them through. After all it's still probably the most reliable logo on the front of comics today.

I'd love to know what kind of numbers the OGN's are doing too, because some of them have been wonderful.

Scalped hasn't charted in the bookscan reports in 08 or 09, so it doesn't sell more than 4k in the US.

The Vertigo titles that do chart are about what you'd expect. It's all Alan Moore, Sandman, Y, Preacher and Fables.

How has a Daredevil thread become about Vertigo?

At least talk about Diggle's work for the imprint!

It spun out of my observation that this is the most reviews that we've had since Nemesis #3 and is more than the combined totals of American Vampire and Hellboy, two titles which I thought were generally well-regarded in the comic community.

Hellboy was responsible for two new members though, so there's no knocking that.
