This book will look nice next to the trade that follows it. Sorry, Fables, but I'm going back to trade waiting after this.

Looked great. Really good. This is pretty much a trade itself.

Fun read. Somehow having skipped the last 50 issues or so, this was still completely accessible.

That's something I'm going to note in my review.

I saw a spoiler somewhere that said that all the beautiful Fables women were turned ugly and vice-versa. Is that true, because I really don't like the sound of it...

Not yet, but the bad guy promised a Fables traitor he would do that before they died.

No that didn't happen. It's simply one of the prices that Mrs Spratt named in return for her services to Mr. Dark, to which his response was.... "Agreed. Before they die, they'll be made hideous. What Else?

It's going to be a while before I read this in trade, so spoil one thing for me: does everything I've read about the destruction of the farm and the Fables retreat to Haven mean that Dark actually wins?

Yes and No.It's true that Bellflower's plan to contain Mr. Dark failed (just as she sucpected), but it did accomplish a few things.

1) Took away all of Mr. Dark's Power he acquired from ravaging New York City. He'll most likely be nowhere near as deadly

2) Divert his attention from the Mundy World (he no longer cares for it, as the Fables are his target now)

3) Place Ozma all that much closer to Oz. Where HER original power base is.

4) Attracted him to Haven, where Flycatcher is still a Beast.

Also, the Farm doesn't get destroyed as of yet. The Buildings and Structure is still there. However, the Sentient Fables have vacated, and any evidence of their new location has been completely destroyed.

Why is it good that Dark has been attracted to Haven?

Mundanes no longer being affected by forces they don't understand, or know how to fight. Remember part of the reason for the War against the Empire is to prevent them from waging a war against the Mundane World. By doing so, they released something that could've turned out worse for said world, in much faster time.

OK, but [doesn't that run the risk of Dark affecting Haven? Also, what's this about Fly being a beast?

Well, I look at it this way....

1) Better Haven than the Mundane World, due to everything that I posted before, plus the fact that the Sacred Grove still has craploads of magical power to serve as a buffer that protects Haven for enough time to get ready for an attack, and to modify a plan to takes this version of Mr. Dark out of the game,

2) Flycatcher is obviously not Zatanna Deus-Ex Machina broken, anymore, but still retains some of the power he had at the end of the Good Prince. He wasn't able to save Blue, but he's still got enough power to transport hundreds of Fables to his world, and travel between worlds, as shown in the Dark Ages. That's gotta count for something.

And as an added note, I'm not going to underestimate Ozma. Something tells me that her plan is solid. Even if she doesn't win, it's going to lead into Rose Red becoming the hero she's meant to become.

To parts unknown, seemingly. Her and Dunster Happ have fallen in love during their time together and have decided to run off together. I don't know if this will be the end of her story, but it sure as hell seems like it.
