It's not that reason for me, I'm just too cheap/broke. Plus I think this is too indy for my little old LCS

If my LCS has it I'm in. Need to get there to find Booster still too.

I'm pretty sure for most who don't review it won't be by choice.

False Prophet wrote:This is the first issue of BG I've read in a while. Michael's not a completely unlikable character, but for a futuristic hero he represents a version of the DCU I'd prefer was long in the past. After this issue, maybe that'll change. Maybe Booster will change. Maybe letting go of the huckle-chuckle days of the classic, yet defunct, JLI will give the character what he needs to be the prime-time player in the DCU his ego always thought he would be.

There's nothing particularly special about the storytelling here. If anything, it's rife with old-school cliches that work in spite of themselves. The art is only servicable. But there's an air of movement in this issue that makes up for these shortcomings. I've been fooled before by "letting go" issues, but I'll give this one the benefit of the doubt. Ted Kord is dead, and Booster realizes it's time to let go. I can only imagine what that coccept actually means for a time-traveler, but this issue portrays it as heavy stuff indeed. If Booster wants to be a hero of the times, he can't afford to be stuck in times gone by.

So, all in all, this seems like a good starting or ending point for the casual fan. I'll check out BG next month to see if Michael starts to become the hero of the future or if he reverts back to being a braw-ha-ha stick in the mud.

Story: 7
Art: 6

Welcome aboard!

I could use the John Snow's theorem to prove you both just like bulging packages in bright colors, but because it's Christmastime I will let you guys off the hook.

Actually as a new member you're probably exempt, so I just have to accept the fact that your LCS sucks hardcore.

No, it just exists in a city with a population of 20,000 and also serves the nearby city (which I live in) of 49,000. Given the small population center its actually a good LCS, but due to that small population base, they just can't afford to take chances on much past the big two.

How do you guys have the cheek to call it a city with only 20,000? My nasty ass little town had 54,000 last count. We don't have an LCS though :-(

Its never made much sense to me either. I was born and raised in Toronto (which has a population of 2.5 million) and that's a city to me. Everyone around here calls Belleville and Trenton cities, so I've just gotten used to calling them that too. :smt102

Boo! You should fight the power and call them villages until you can reliably get random IDW books.

They sometimes do surprise. I've seen stuff from both dark Horse and image on their shelves that I wasn't expecting to see. Now that IDW has its own section in Previews along side Marvel, DC, Dark Horse and Image, its possible I could see a copy that I could buy. Its just that its far from a certain thing.

I plan on buying Suicide Forest if I can.
