Originally I couldn't get into Phantom of the Opera. One of my friends tried for about a year to get me into it and I just couldn't. Then she was in talks to direct one of the school plays and it was going to be Phantom of the Opera and all of a sudden I was set as the ideal actor for the role. I got pissed but decided, "fine, whatever." But I still wasn't happy. I told my voice coach about it and all of a sudden she jumped in glee and forced me to learn the songs as she was a Phantom geek and I had to do it. :-(

Eventually the songs grew on me and I now love the soundtrack, the movie, the show. Overall I became a huge fan of the overall story. The original book was pretty damn good.

It was the logical choice.

Expect lots of anti-Richards tirades from me as well.

^That's Reed, not Sue.

You may need to rename yourself Vituperative Squid.

Ugh I hates that one meself, though TCM sure doesn't.

Perhaps, like me, you generally hate the sound of the human voice when singing?

So, eleven pages, only one review and a whole conversation about musicals. These threads can be amazing to read at times.

For the record, I bought my copy of Spirit #10 today and I should have a review up tomorrow. :)

I finally found a copy of this as well. Have read once just a few minutes ago, but I always read every pick that isn't Weird Worlds #1 or Garrison #5 at least twice before even doing a haiku review.

I just don't care for a mix of song and storytelling. Sing me a song. Tell me a story. But do them separately, not simultaneously.

The worst are cantatas.

If cantata is another word for opera, then I agree with you.

Well, that's a sticky wicket. You see, there are old timey baroque cantatas, and there are contemporary Christian cantatas. Just like there is opera, and there is soap opera. You see what I mean?
