Eh, never mind. Back to the matter at hand.

Eli, you should like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, surely, the book was written by Ian Fleming!

Yeah, and a script by Roald Dahl.

To be honest, I don't know if I loathe it or not. It has probably been 20 years since I've last seen it.

I do like Singin' in the Rain. But that's because there's some effort made to place the musical numbers in a somewhat plausible context.

I've never seen that.

Of course, Willy Wonka is a musical and you can't possibly hate Gene Wilder's performance in that, it's genius!

are we still on about musicals?

I don't loathe them. I love The Sound of Music, Music Man, Willy Wonka, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable, Jesus Christ Superstar, An American in Paris, Singin' In the Rain, White Christmas, Disney movies...

I have never seen Rent, but the song or two I have heard made me want to kill the people involved.

Singin in the Rain is one of my favorite movies. It's a little hokey but the dance numbers are fantastic.

All musicals are hokey, but they aren't any more hokey than your average sci fi movie.

It's okay. I know it is weird, but then I was a band nerd in high school and am lead tenor in my church's choir. I am a serious music junky and I absolutely love movies. I think I have seen every Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie.

Look at it this way, Eli. Every man has their one weakness. Your's is being a pansy ass vegan. Mine is musicals.

Yeah, I saw most of the dance numbers repeatedly in film school actually, but they were isolated from the rest of the movie.

Vegans have special powers, though.

See that plus your dubious taste in music was why I was willing to give you the free pass on Rent.
