One thing I did find interesting, was the constant ancient Roman allusions. Many of the names (such as Cato), even the name of the nation itself (Panem), coming from the latin word for bread. And even the whole setting, of a government giving its citizens entertainment to pacify them using warriors in an arena fighting to the death.

I think there was more Collins could have done with that. Of course, this was a kid's book as Punchy so artfully and articulately explained.

By the way, I really enjoyed the other two volumes. I highly recommend them.
