I think this proves that same characters need to only be dealt with by their creators or certain pros that seem to make them work. Example - Vic Sage, The Question. Dennis O'Neil and Denys Cowan seemed to be the only folks in comics that ever made the character really work, outside of creator Steve Ditko.

Everyone who has worked on this book has made the character work, though. Johns, Katz, Jurgens, Chuck Dixon and now Giffen and DeMatteis. And it's not like they're being removed - it was stated when they came on board that Jurgens would be back at some point, and now that Time Masters is done here he is.

And for what it's worth, Judd Winick is writing an excellent take on Booster over in JL:GL.

Rick Veitch and Tommy Lee Edwards had a great Question mini, years ago.

But, were they better then he was on dealing with the character? For your tastes.

You mean the Jack Hawksmoor clone series?

I looked at it, saw that basically and passed on it.

Actually, yeah. I've liked the whole current run on the title, but I think that the Jurgens issues have been the weakest.

Yes, but that was not a comic book. It's also a sad statement when the folks working on the cartoon shows handle characters better then those in comics today. Just saying from a personal point of view.

Interesting. I read the earlier Jurgens stuff, liked it, but I'm so far behind now, I'm not sure I've read any of the others.

More of a thud, for me. A bit like the B&B cartoon version. Okay, but no where near as good, imo.
