The Venture Bros. "Orb"

Postby zombiemichaeljackson » Mon Aug 11, 2008 3:35 am

Every time I think this show has reached it's peak and can't possibly get any better it proves me wrong. Showdown at Creamation Creek may be the high water mark as far as individual awesomness is concerned, but the layers and layers of mythos that have been laid down this season have been awe-inspiring. It's quickly becoming a fully formed universe with multiple machiavellian plots snaking their way through the background, peaking their heads out and then disappearing into the background again. The one constant? Dr. Jonas Venture.

This shit is going to come to a head, and when it does I'm fairly certain that it's going to be unbelievable.

I really like the look at the Victorian era characters and the "origin" of the Guild. Seeing everyone's analog was kind of neat, especially Alister Crowley as Orpheus. :-D

The use of historical characters was awesome, and I loved seeing Twain as part of the group. I really enjoyed that part of the episode. The other stuff with the riddles was fun as well.

Brock's car was awesome and I really didn't see the bodyguard twist coming. I hope to see the orb again some time soon. Kano was great as well.

Overall a great episode in a great season. How many more episodes are there? I hope it's a bunch, but I get a feeling it's like 2 or 3.

Two more episodes, a two-parter titled, 'the family that slays together, stays together.'

Sounds like it will be some fun, but I don't know how they can tie all this up so quickly.

I think that the older Dr Venture will play a critical role, when it's revealed he never died because the true secret of the bodyguards is that they are never able to kill and that they always spare the life of the Venture they are guarding. I really think it's leading up to an ending like that which will make the wait for the next season nigh unbearable.

I also hope that Phantom Limb and the Guild make appearances.

Well, the good news is that the 4th season is apparently already in production so we shouldn't have to wait another 2 years for it.

I don't really expect them to tie everything together, if anything I'd suspect that this season will probably end with a huge cliffhanger(possibly the appearance of Jonas), or with everything going completely to shit to set up the 4th, and probably final, season.

I think that the older Dr Venture is going to be the head of the Guild. JV Jr. follows in his father's footsteps and becomes a villain and arches Rusty except he takes it too far and intends to actually kill him. Monarch, not able to allow anyone else to vanquish his arch-foe but him, leaps in front and takes the proverbial bullet for Rusty.

In the end, we see a battle between "good" and "evil" as Team Venture, Dr Impossible, The Monarch, Underbheit, etc. face off against Jonas Venture Jr and Sr, pirates, the Guild, Phantom Limb, etc.

That would be good as well. I've always figured Jr would turn evil at some point, but I don't know about Jonas Sr. Regardless I think we're in for a good ending to the season.

It's good to hear the next season is already in production. Hopefully it starts early next year. As you said at least it isn't likely to be 2 fucking years again.

I love this show.

Does anyone else think that Rusty and The Monarch are brothers?

It would explain the hate, I wouldn't be shocked if that was the case. I'd say step-brothers though.

I thought the episode was pretty great. Any excuse to see Hunter again is a good one. I thought Kano was pretty funny as well. It seems like this season with all it's history revealing episodes has a direction. I agree it all has to come to a boil soon and I can't wait. :D

The episode or the season?

I didn't think it was as funny as some of the others this year, but I still thought it was good for other reasons.

Every epsiode this season has just topped the last, its great. Definitely a joy to see all the past characters and reveal more of the history of this world. I have no idea where things could be heading next but I love it.

The Guild hates Phantom Limb though. If that were to happen, I could see the Guild helping Team Venture with O.S.I. helping the Jonases. I don't know if I want to see that though. Last night's episode was very good though and I really enjoyed seeing the historical figures.
