Yeah there was a rule about too many fill ins and breaks in the run. The crossover Ra's story and fill ins I think would have made it ineligible.

When he was actually doing the writing it was really good.

That Ra's story was fucking garbage!

I actually can't wait to put together a top stories list, even though it will be next to impossible to narrow down.

For me, that list will be much different from the top runs list. That's for sure. Great runs can be devoid of great arcs. I'm thinking of Unknown Soldier and Scalped here -- two books that are more powerful as a whole than as their individual parts.

Geez, and I thought Top Runs was difficult. Top Stories is such a broad assortment, ranging from single issue backup stories to huge crossover runs. I can think of five or six definites, but filling out that list would be a bitch.

And as far as Byrne appearing high on Top Writer and Top Artist lists, I would agree. However, he'd also rank highly on Most Hated Artist and Writer lists, too.

Yes he would. And he'd give Alan Moore a run for his money on the "cranky assholes that hate everything" list.

We have to do that list.

I think its going to be even harder for me. I can't see Crisis on Infinite Earths, Under Siege from Avengers, The Trigon saga from the Wolfman Perez Teen Titans, Cosmos in Collision from Quasar and Mark Gruenwald's masterpiece known as Captain America No More not making my list. That's going to leave five slots to represent the rest of my history as a reader and my views of comic book history.

Its not going to be an easy task.

Lost in Space-Time from West Coast Avengers and Gruenwald's Squadron Supreme failed to make your guaranteed list? That surprises me.

A top stories list could double or triple the size of the top runs list, I reckon. Just taking apart Claremont's Uncanny X-Men you have #'s 95, 100-101, 102-103, 120-121, 125-128, 129-137 (possibly split into different issues), 141-142, 143, 150, 153, 162-166, 168-170, 172-173, 174-175 along with crossovers like Mutant Massacre, Inferno and X-Tinction Agenda. Perhaps a few of those stories would receive no votes but I believe at least ten Claremonts would snag a vote.

Awesome, Claremont/Byrne's X-Men got the top spot! :smt026 That's probably my favorite superhero run, and why I still love the X-Men.

Great job on this Bubba, rdrsfn82, and misac! Thanks a lot for the awesome work.

Whatever the next list will be, it will give me a hard time, but I'll try to make one (I always say that, and then I never follow through).

Oh, and one more thing:

DAMN YOU BUBBA!! :x

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you'll be a mile from them, and you'll have their shoes.

My list has got to represent me in my totality when it comes to comic books, my views and my history. Under Siege and Cap No More are going to be representing my love of the Avengers books in the 80s. As such, Lost in Space Time is going to be squeezed out. The same goes for Squadron Supreme. Mark Gruenwald is my favourite writer of all time, but I've already got Cap No More and Quasar, Devoting three picks, just about one third of my list, to just one aspect of my reading history is going be a little much.

It a sad thing, but both are going to be squeezed out due to what I want to do with my list.
