Lorna: Relic Wrangler #1

FUN FACT: WASHINGTON D.C.’S OCCULT ARCHITECTURE WAS CONFIGURED TO ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET FOR AN EXTRA-DIMENSIONAL DARK LORD!
But hidden in plain sight in the heart of our nation’s capitol is the one artifact that can turn back this nefarious entity. Now, it’s up to Lorna, Relic Wrangler, to pilfer a certain Memorial and curry the sacred object to its destiny — all the while unaware that she is delivering herself as a sacrificial party favor!
PLUS: Thrill to the Girl Fight on the Threshold of Doom when Lorna confronts her teenage adversary turned cat-suited villainess! It’s high school all over again when two worlds collide on the National Mall!

guitarsmashley has next week's pick.

If you would like to join the group, it's easy. Just post a review and I'll add you to the member's list. As long as you stay active, eventually it will be your turn to make a pick.

With $4 comics becoming the norm, the economy being what it is and the growing popularity of mail order services the Review Group recognizes that it's becoming harder and harder to commit to participating each and every week. As long as you can post one review per calendar month you will stay in the member's list. It doesn't matter if you post your review the week of it's release or if you post it later. There is no such thing as a "late" review.

The only request I make is that if you don't plan on posting a review or if you're going to be posting late is that you drop a note in the thread so that I can keep track of who is active and who isn't. The Spreadsheet of Doom is thorough, but it can't read your mind.

Image
Comics are to be scored on a scale from 1-10. 1 being suck, 10 being a damn good comic. Beyond that, there's no right or wrong.

Image
If it's your week, you must announce your selection by 5pm EST the day Diamond releases it's shipping list. If you do not announce your pick at that time, I will add a poll to the thread that will remain open until 12pm EST so that the group can make the selection for that week. (If you're seriously MIA, I'll probably put the poll up sooner) To ensure that you know it's your week, I will PM you when Midtown's list goes live on Thursdays. Also you'd better keep in mind the Amber Atoms rule, if your pick isn't reviewed by 2 or more people you will be exiled from the Group for 1 year. Our definition of a single issue comic is limited to comics listed at $3.99 or lower, anything above that is off limits. Also, to prevent utter filth being chosen deliberately, the Weird Worlds Rule has also gone into affect. Any book scoring a new all-time low (2.68 as of today) will not count as a miss if people wisely choose not to purchase it. Any poor soul who did review the book will earn a free pass on a book of their choice.

I'll be contacting members this week about their desire to stay involved with the group.

List will be updated with colors and any new members I missed at approximately 10:30 PM EST, Wednesday

Three Image books in a row. The RG has become a bunch of indie snobs. :smt011

I like to think of it as progress. If we had chosen FF #1, I can guarantee you that Zechs would have been in here splooging his eyes out and causing a mess due to the fact that his precious lover Doom was in the comic. (Blacked out for those who don't want any spoilers about FF #1 at all)

And if we had GL #64, then the conversation would have gone something like this:

Punchy: Fuck Larfleeze.

Frank Lloyd Snowlah: Geoff Johns is a terrible writer and the reason for the inevitable decline of the industry.

Herald: Did someone say (annoying nickname for Johns)? TV Trope, TV Trope, TV Trope

Fourthy: ASDFGJHSDGHROHWOIHDGOSGHISDOGJISDOG PUNCHY! 10 just to spite you!

SilverPheonix: lengthy dissertation on the weaknesses of Geoff Johns and Hal Jordan

Mammon: You guys are upset because Hal Jordan had teh butt secks with all of your moms. He and Aquaman totally tagteamed Spider-Man because he's lame like all Marvel characters. Hal Jordan roxxors!

BlueStreak: :smt011 at you all.

I'm still unclear why I'm branded a Johns hater. Sure he fears doing original work, his Avengers was worse than Chuck Austen's and he brought back the least interesting character in comics, Hal Jordan, but the boring one's return is at least half Didiot's fault.

Eh, I don't really know at this point. You've said positive things about him before. I think I just got confused and found its easier to continue the brand than make an consious effort to correct it.

Unless you have any other thoughts on a different book, I'm not gonna change my mind either way, still Butcher Baker is going to be the best worst reviewed book ever.
