For a start... he doesn't like the Great one.

speaking of the Great Padder...was it just me, or did he look even MORE ridiculously douchey than usual in that big 2-page Marvel Architects ad in Fear Itself this week? what a tool.

I thought he was trying to look goofy on purpose. And I thought it was kind of funny.

That can't be a legitimate view of the series.

It is, and of this issue. Look, I see it this way. If our good friend Zero can declare the art was adiquate but still give it a 0 then I'm well within my rights to proclaim it the greatest thing since sliced bread. I feel that it balances out the obvious biggotary towards my selection by others.

And I LOVE this series (yet it still is no where near as good as Justice League Lost)

I didn't know anyone really loved this book.

I think it's the definition of mediocre at best, and a terribly paced mess. There's aspects that have worked, but the way it's a story that did not fit this format at all.

How can a comic be nowhere near as good as another one... and still get a 10?

Chap is just jealous that Bendis is OK with his baldness.

Generation Lost is an 11, obviously.

Because I said so. How can Bendis still write dialogue that a 9 year old could do better and still be given the keys to the mansion.

It just is what it is. :smt102

Johns and Bendis are two peas in a pod, just none of you can bring yourselves to admit how similar their writing is. In fact they are so alike, I am going to refer to them both as "Johndis" from now on.

Which rhymes with jaundice.

Reviews shouldn't need to have to balance the other out, but yeah, I read Zero's review and other's comments as more 'agenda' than 'opinion'.

ME? I loved the issue, as I have the whole run. Only a couple issues left to this mini and all the pieces are converging (except for Max & Osirus) at last.

Despite the Cap Atom & Alan Scott goofs at the opening, the book set things up pretty well (yeah it seems sudden that the Earth is suddenly under attack - but that's exactly what happened). I don't understand why some people expect issue #24 of a 26 issue mini to explain everything (I suppose if they did spend 3 pages explaining it all they'd complain about the wasted recap pages  ).

The appearance of the elementals wasn't as big a shock as it could have been if it hadn't been spoiled. Reis' depiction of them is superior to Frank's cover - which I'm astounded to say as I never thought of Ivan being at Gary's level.

And a big "hell yeah!" to the return of Swamp Thing! I loved him well before Moore and that only got larger with Alan and then Vietch. He was basically unreadable after that - and I for one and damn glad he gets to play in the DCU again (where he belongs!)

Writing - 8
Art - 9
Overall - 8.5
