The mutants' jingoism is always a little off-putting to me.

Look at Cyclop's separatism, his believe in the superiority of the mutant minority, his militant protection of the rights of that minority at the expense of the safety of the majoriy... he's clearly a lib.

I didn't read Secret Avengers. If it really is similar to Unknown Soldier, I'd probably check it out.

I only read the first 3 issues of Unknown Soldier before I dropped it, but I can safely say that Jude is taking the mickey, and SA is nothing like Unknown Soldier.

Stephen, the word "jingoism" means extreme patriotism in the form of aggressive foreign policy. Fear Itself, specifically this issue, shows an attack on Washington D.C. that is being defended against. Jingoism has no place in a discussion of the defense of one's homeland, and you've shown you don't even know what the word means to boot! :smt011

I said that I was afraid that I would find it jingoistic from what I read about the issue going in. I also said that the overall tone wasn't bad all that bad. In other words, I didn't find it to be jingoistic -- mostly for the reasons you mentioned. I've removed the, words "this was somewhat the case," because I realize that those words were misleading from what I actually meant.
