What creators are you hoping to see work on the various #1s in September?

To me, one of the more interesting bits of news was that Clevinger pitched (and thought he was hired...) to write Firestorm. He's awesome, and not someone I expected to see DC work from (being an indy/marvel guy). It makes me hopeful that they've been going outside their comfort zone with some of these pitches and we could see more new voices in the DCU come fall. Cullen Bunn is pretty high on my list of people I'd like to see on an ongoing.

I just talked to my local comic shop guy, and he said this isn't happening and people have got it wrong. I don't know what to believe...

You're local comic shop guy doesn't know what he's talking about. This was front page material in USA Today earlier last week (let alone EVERY comic site on the nets).

I'm intrigued by some of what I'm hearing so far (like Grant Morrison and George Perez on Superman and Lobdell on Teen Titans) but other stuff (like the Mister Terrific book), I don't really know about.

I'll try to think of some more suggestions in a bit.

The pitch angle is interesting, apparently more than one writer was asked to pitch for various books, but some people (like Clevinger) weren't told it was either a pitch for the book in question or that there was competition, leading some writers to believe they were on books that were still 100% up in the air (like Firestorm), as evidenced by these tweets:

Brian Clevinger: You’re on Firestorm? Now I don’t feel like shit about losing it. Treat those guys right, they’ve had it rough

Gail Simone: Awww, I didn’t know YOU were the other guy pitching! You would have kicked ass! But thank you for the kind words! Guys, Atomic Robo by Brian Clevinger is one of the cleverest, funnest comics going. Highly recommended!

So this makes it clear that either DC told Simone she was competing against other pitches but not Clevinger, or Clevinger just didn't understand the deal as he'd already make it clear in interviews he thought he was on Firestorm in the future.

I haven't liked anything I've read from Wallace and to be a jerk about it, I was bummed to see him as the writer of that.

I hope they have Brian Wood writing something- with DMZ ending he might have enough time on his hands.

Greg Capullo just confirmed himself as artist of Batman on his Facebook.

No news on who the writer is, but we're apparently getting all of the Bat-info in approx 5 days.

Duane Swierczynski is supposed to be writing one of the titles. Whether it's this one or Detective is still unknown.

The Jurgens thing is annoying. I never thought I'd be so bummed not to see Judd Winnick's name missing from a book's creative team!

I really hope we do get Grant Morrison on Superman.
