Interesting to see that Dany's hair didn't burn, it did in the books.

Emilia Clarke was probably unwilling to shave her head.

Robb was pretty stupid to send Theon to his father like that IMO.

The show is building on that whole thing, what shocks me here is they added in him asking Robb if they were brothers forever and all that then laying down his sword as they proclaimed him King of the North. That wasn't in the books, I guess it will make the later actions in book/season 2 more shocking.

A good thing too, because like I had said earlier, what happens in book 2 with Theon was really not well developed by Martin in terms of setting it up for readers.

I think it was a wig anyway, I just don't think they wanted to end the season with Sinead O'Dragons.

Yeah the way he writes, with a certain group of viewpoint characters, tends to make some things come out of the blue since we were never in Theon's head prior to book 2.

it's just silly, they should've made it so dany had singed hair at least.

I like this take on the scene.

Her hair after the cut looked like a wig too, actually. Although Arya's short hair to pass as a boy is a lot more integral to the plot than Daenerys losing hers.

What's with people wanting things set up so much? The Greyjoy's failed rebellion is mentioned in the first book and Catelyn warns Rob against sending Theon away in the second. Everything else comes pretty organically after that.

If anything, the show is doing so much set up that in many cases they telegraph really interesting developments (i.e. Littlefinger's big long monologue about his motivations the episode before the big confrontation)

TV is different than the books. In the books, you can make the excuse that "you didn't read that line" for the set up to something, but in a show it's harder to do that without sometimes pointing to what viewers should notice.

It was cleverly hidden by the whore sticking her thumb in the other whores pooper. Nobody paid attention to the dialog.

They need to leave room for shock though. I felt bad for friends not reading the books who told me a week earlier that Ned was totally going to be betrayed and fail. I was shocked in the book, they clearly wanted you to be shocked at the end of the episode, but they built a neon sign out of that scene in the whore house.

Aesthetics was probably a big part of it. Television is a visual medium and many viewers might have found a bald woman a little... strange.
