Ehh, yeah, I guess I could see that. But the question then becomes "what, exactly, would DC consider an underperforming number?". 20,000? 10, 000? How long would they let that go on waiting for the gateway to start widening?

The funny thing is that Didio said many of the titles, not all of the titles. But hey, luckily it's the internet so accuracy doesn't matter a bit.

Ouch. That's fair. Even worse, I linked to the article and still overstated it. I'll go sit in the corner now...

It's all good, I wasn't trying to be too grumpy there. :P

There's been more than a few interviews that have stated that some series will be focused on building subplots (a la the last Blue Beetle series) than having long-form arcs. I wonder if Didio was referring to that at all as it sounded like that was going to be something a little more common in the new series.

"Many of the new 52 books will have six issue story arcs, and Dan DiDio states that if sales are bad on a title, they won’t wait very long to cancel it. He wants strong sales across the line."

This was what made me sit up and take notice. It just makes me hope that "I, Vampire" creative team have some backup plans in place. That said, I'd be happy to cheer them on of it sells like gangbusters right out of the gate.

You could apply the same logic you used about the War titles to Crime titles, but stories like Gotham Central and Powers have shown that stories about 'normal' policemen can be done in superhero universes. The same can be done with War.
