I read about 8/9 issues. I've actually got some more about Typhoid Mary I never read.

Nocenti's only Daredevil story that's as good as you make it sound is the little 3 Jacks story in Daredevil #500.

I'm sorry, but if you're rating her run right below Millar's then I'm surprised my head hasn't exploded trying to process that.

yes, well, anyone who thinks Bendis's run is better than Miller's clearly has no grasp of what "good" is anyway. so i think we are done, professionally.

i got no problem with that. that was still when Sabretooth was the skinny wiry dude (who also got beat by Black Cat, mind you) he started as, not the hulking monstrosity uber-badass he became in the 90s.

and again, that was VERY early in Ann's run, when she was tied up in forced crossovers and finding her feet. a year or so later when JRJr comes on and she starts the Typhoid stuff is when that run starts really taking shape and turning into something special.

I'm not even going to pretend like I've read any Daredevil beside Brubaker's.

I don't know though trying to rank forty years of stories is a little tough. I think people tend to put the first good run they've read higher than it should be sometimes.

I was a big fan of Smith's early DD work. Miller's work is obviously amazing.

Aside from that, I've only read a few issues here and there.

you read the whole run? all the Typhoid stuff early and all the Mephisto/Blackheart/Inhumans stuff late is freaking great. "A Beer With the Devil" is one of my favorite single DD issues.

I really like Nocenti' run.

To add to my long list of Review Group accomplishments, I am now the first member to have picked a book that went on to win Best Single Issue at the Eisners with Hellboy: Double Feature of Evil. I hope those of you that scored it under a 10 feel foolish now, especially Stephen Day who gave it a 6.

Also, I've got DD coming in my box at the end of the month so I'll be waiting until then to review it. I'll try to do the last couple of Greatjon Hickman's issues I've missed this weekend.

it goes like this:

Miller (all together, the main run, MWOF, BA, all of it)
Nocenti
Kesel
Smith
Bru
Hine's Redemption mini
Bendis (and i hate to even rank it that high, b/c the art is so goddamn awful it makes the run frankly un-rereadable for me; but i do give Bendis some credit for an interesting direction, even if it's one i don't particularly like, and even though i HATE the ridiculous padding of the early issues and the usual Bendisian stylistic tics in dialogue throughout)

With the exception of ranking Bendo and Bru so low.. you sir, are a man of impeccable tastes when it comes to stuff I also like.

My list would go:

1a. Miller
1b. Bendis
2a. Brubaker
2b. Nocenti

3. Smith
4. Kesel

6. D.G. Chichester

And the single best issue of Daredevil of all-time:
