So the head cleric knew where the book was, but the King sent his two best warriors after it with no idea of where to find it (and leading to the downfall of almost the entire race as they found mum-ra instead and that dude turned on them). Then the Cleric sends off the Lion-o to find the book without saying where. Then when mum-ra has him he knows the way right there.

His name is Jaga n00b! :P

But yeah you're right, that does seem to be a rather large plothole

Looks like a copy of the Thundertank. Or is that the other way around here?

Meh. Lots of explanations can be made. From the top it's clearly shaped like a pharaoh's death mask. So it's shape is understandable and therefore it's similarities to the Thundertank are purely coincidental. Or, since Panthro and Grune didn't head out on their adventure in the Thundertank but Panthro came back with it it's possible that he stole one of Mumm-Ra's and retro-fitted it into the Thundertank. Or it could be that the producers just thought it would make a cool looking toy to sell.

Could it be a case he comes from a Egyptian-themed civilization which either combines both or posses a technology so advanced that it seems like magic to the more primitive by comparison civilizations of Third Earth?

How far back was that flashback ? Could that have been Lion-O's father as a young man ?

Good point. What opens the door to the possibility that that Tygra-like character was in fact Tygra's real father if the theory of him been an adopted son of Claudius proves to be true.

It's also possible that Tygra's not a tiger but a Liger instead. Thereby making him a true son of Claudius but a different mother maybe. :smt102

I had not ruled out that possibility neither.
After all as Mel Brooks said:
