Has a movie ever changed your life?

Postby Strict31 » Fri Sep 02, 2011 6:31 pm

On the Fight Club (movie) page on Facebook, they ask if the movie changed your life in any way.

This question made me stop and wonder. I don't know that I've ever seen a movie that changed my life. It seems an odd question. But maybe your experience is different. So, have you ever seen a movie that changed your life? If so, what was the movie, and how did it change your life?

Yes. Half Baked. Honest to God. I knew nothing about drugs and after watching it, I knew that I would one day smoke weed. And I did. And I didn't like it. But I still love Chappelle.

I don't think any movie changed my life in any significant way, but there are some that left a big impression. Films like Miss Daisy, Dead Poet Society, America X or even Star Wars, Logan's Run or The Planet of the Apes.

Maybe Star Wars. I sorta like science fiction before that (watch Star Trek and was into it but wasn't a big fanboy til later) but Star Wars cemented it. It also made me interested in movie technology in general.

So it didn't turn me good from bad, but it influenced my tastes and interests a lot going forward.

Does porn count? Cuz since I started watching it I have never been able to stop jerking off, and that has had a significant effect on my life

Yeah I think they have. Have you ever watched a film and realised it's almost mirroring your life story? That there's so many similarities between you and the lead character that it's almost uncanny.

When I was watching scarface I come to that conclusion. It changed me.
You don't have to like me
You don't have to respect me
But you will LISTEN to me.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

Porn isn't a movie. Is there a specific porn movie that caused that change?

Yeah, I can see the similarities.

I really liked The Stoned Age for similar reasons.

I was a decent kid with a bright future untill I saw Star Wars when I was four. After that I made Luke Skywalker my role model. I became a whiny brat.

Garden State pretty much mirrors my life in my twenties pre-marriage.

No, I don't think any movie has changed my life in a significant way.
