I was confusing the book anyway. I didn't like CB&MI:13 anyway, I only liked his Wisdom miniseries. Maybe you'll tell me he didn't even write that, I'm too lazy to check. If not, he didn't write anything I liked to begin with.

He did write that.

I liked it, but it was a mini so it's basically one really good arc. I thought the first few issues of MI:13 were pretty good, not fantastic.

Interesting to see the cast of Demon Knights show up in one panel, I like it when writers build their own little connections.

I think its interesting the Demon Knights show up when The Scourge of Worlds accesses Harry Tanner's thoughts. Maybe that dude at the bottom of the panel is 'The Eminence of Blades?' and they'll be crossover between the two books? 'Eminence' is a pretty medieval-y title to have, isn't it?

I also found it interesting that in the five years between Justice League #1 and Stormwatch #1, Martian Manhunter WAS a member of the Justice League.

The Demon Knights are supposed to be the prototypical Stormwatch.

I flipped through this in the store. Is it just me, or does it seem like Stormwatch is one of those interlocking titles that ties plot threads from various books into one?

Yeah, I believe that is the case, but to be fair... didn't they promote it as such? I swear I remember them talking about how it would be a linchpin title, showing some ways how everything is related...

I guess, but making it a companion book that you have to get to follow whats going on in other books annoys me...unless I happen to already be getting those titles. And for a reboot that's supposed to be really friendly to new readers cross-promotion and guest spots is fine, but if it gets overly bogged down with what's going on in other books then I don' understand why DC would go down this route.

Isn't this the sort of thing they wanted to get away from? And now they're doing it from scratch again?

There is some tie with Superman #1, but you can read Stormwatch on its own fine.

It'd be pretty stupid, even for DC, if they made any of their new comics dependent on any others, when the whole point of this is to be able to jump in anywhere.

Punchy wrote:This was an odd one. I’m still getting used to the idea of the Wildstorm heroes being a part of the DCU, and this issue felt disjointed as a result. It still feels strange to see Martian Manhunter alongside Jack Hawskmoor, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.
I was too young in 1986 to feel that way about Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, Nightshade, etc. being in the DCU after Crisis on Infinite Earths, but I am cautiously excited about those characters being part of the DCnU proper.

I'll maybe check this out in trade, but I really wonder how Stormwatch could exist (even in a secretive manner) in the same world as Superman and Batman. I'm sure eventually they'll butt heads (this is superhero comics, after all), but hopefully they've planned all this out where both teams make sense to coexist... somehow.

No, the impression I get is that it's like... Stormwatch is the shadowy background unit that no one's ever heard of. Superman beats the shit out of the giant troll attacking Metropolis, trying to open a mystical gate to Niflheim. Ok, fantastic. Troll's ass is kicked. Stormwatch, after that, will swoop in and find a way to go to Niflheim and tell them "Stay the fuck away from Earth, tossers."

Really, they called it Stormwatch, but it REALLY felt more like The Authority. With a bit of Da Vinci Code secret society down through the centuries bullshit added in for fun.

Ah, so they follow up what happens to the threats after. Is Henry Bendix back in continuity?

Not a single #1 issue is dependent on knowing who the Meta-Woman is. It's an easter egg for existing fans, and sure, it'll lead up to something in the future, but there's no-one who read Action Comics #1, or anything else and thought 'That would have been good, but who the hell was that one person in the crowd?!'

I reckon if I was a new fan who had no idea who she was, I'd think that once their plans for her become clear, it'd be cool to go back and see that they'd been leading up to it all this time without me knowing.

Exactly, yes. Bendix wasn't mentioned in any way whatsoever, but I'm sure he'll be around eventually. You can't have Stormwatch without Bendix in SOME form.
