Yeah there is a good chance, I hope not but getting stabbed 4+ times from all angles is going to be hard to recover from. Maybe, maybe some of the Wildlings will save him from the fatal blows but it doesn't look good. But you are probably right.

I am betting there's almost a civil war amongst the Watch. And the Wildlings will be a big part of it, but I think there's also a chance Melisandre heals him somehow.

I think Jon's link with Ghost will keep him alive some how. Like Bran and the tree

I just really hope he isn't a wolf man warg or some shit next book, or gone as a POV character. His chapters kept me going through this book. But he didn't do a very good job as Commander even if he's got the right idea. Bad decision at the end leading to his stabbing though. He was way too close to Stannis and his Stark blood still.

The Arya chapters were OK but her becoming a tiny 11 year old Ninja Assassin is kind of lame IMO. Is she going to be Buffy? Will next book just be her learning how to kill more?

Danerys needs serious rehabilitation as a character, towards the end I was hoping she would be killed in Maureen. A pretty bad ruler so far and came across as weak in this book, very flighty. Terrible decision after terrible decision. Very vain and foolish.

The Bran storyline just kind of ended.

The coincidences in Tyrion's story were almost too much. He just happens on Jorah and Penny? Kind of a stretch.

Ultimately I think a strong editor to get him to trim fat would have helped. Most of the storylines could have been told in fewer words and had just as much impact.

How can you know that? Do you have access to an edited-down version from an alternate reality?

It's a pretty simple conjecture.

The book was bloated, he and others (including myself) felt that it could have been trimmed down and kept the same effectivness.

This is the same problem that happened with Robert Jordan I'm told, he starts the series as a nobody so the editor can dictate what can and cannot be published and you get a lean story. As the story becomes more popular the creator have more power and the editor lets more stuff stay.

Honestly this series could have been trimmed down big time starting with the 3rd book, in my opinion.

and I do disagree a bit with Aaron. I think that

[Reveal] Spoiler: Click to Expand
Jon Snow made the best decisions as Lord Commander he could make in those situations, he was making the hard decisions to survive. He just didn't appease his brothers and it led to his downfall, which will lead to the downfall of the brotherhood before this is over.

I really don't plan on wasting much time discussing this series with him. He's way too fanboyish in regards to it. :smt102

Agreed. Did we really need those Quentyn Martell chapters? Arya's story is really boring - too much exposition. Get to the point already. And we could have saved 50 pages if that fat shit stopped writing about every meal these guys ate.

It's funny how the story of Stannis is still always told from another POV, but between A Feast for Crows and this book, he's given just about everyone else their own POV chapters.

I don't think Stannis is dead either. Something is up at Winterfell
