It's an easter egg for existing fans, and sure, it'll lead up to something in the future, but there's no-one who read Action Comics #1, or anything else and thought 'That would have been good, but who the hell was that one person in the crowd?!'

I reckon if I was a new fan who had no idea who she was, I'd think that once their plans for her become clear, it'd be cool to go back and see that they'd been leading up to it all this time without me knowing.

if you were a new fan you more than likely wouldn't know to look for her, as you more than likely weren't reading comic forums about how she's gonna be in every issue.. in all honesty i have yet to see her myself, i've seen her pointed out by bleeding cool, but never while just reading the issues.

I spotted her in Animal Man and in JLI by myself. None of the others.

I thought it was quite obvious in this and in Swamp Thing, but everywhere else she was a face (or hood) in a crowd.

I liked Martian Manhunter's design, but I'm still not crazy about Midnighter's.
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.
