I only saw the cartoon, I didn't read comics when Static's book came out. My favorite version of Static is the old version in JLU.

Around my way they bargain binned a ton of Milestone stuff and when I saw the series I dug it up.

I guess when mcKeever added him to the Teen Titans others may have gotten that idea around that time too.

I'm totally out of the loop with comics over the past month or so, are these books selling to the point that they're speculator worthy? I've seen a couple of comments in threads that seem to indicate that but when I was at Hastings today they had 10-20 copies of all the NuDC books.

Apparently Batgirl is, but FUCK BATGIRL. I declare the Review Group to be a Batgirl free zone.

Also maybe Action Comics and Justice League.

Batgirl is in that category? Sounds to me like DC bought as many copies as they could, pretend they sold out and are now on ebay charging $10 a pop. Batgirl..... :smt011

Batgirl was my second favorite comic I've read so far this week. Animal Man being first.

Static Shock #1

DC should actually be proud of itself with what they are achieving. In the first week there were quite a few books that seemed to garner praise and quite a bit of interest. This, unfortunately, is not one of them for me.

The character has little appeal to me, though the art was perfect for the style of book that I think it is trying to be. Unfortunately the biggest problem with Static Shock is that it doesn't actually know what it wants to be. It seems to bounce from being friendly to younger generations with it's simplicity to a darker tone that I found jarring.

If you are a fan of Static Shock, check it out. If you're not, well, don't try starting here.

Story: 3
Art: 8
My Score: 4.5

The witness said Mr Brown then called out to Ms Hay's adult daughter: "Look at this, I'm tittie-f***ing your mother!".
