Avengers: Children's Crusade #7 (Victor is here Spoilers)

Postby Punchy » Thu Sep 22, 2011 11:42 am

Is anybody else getting annoyed by the Young Avengers constantly standing by the sidelines doing nothing in this mini? They just stand and watch the grown-ups in the Avengers and the X-Men sort things out. They need to get involved more! I did enjoy seeing the X-Men and the Avengers (as well as X-Factor) come to blows though, it was exciting, and made this book seem like more of an event, as it’s brought together almost the whole Marvel Universe. I’m a bit iffy on the retcon at the end of the issue, but we’ll see how it all turns out, and also what’s up with Doom. Jim Cheung is of course excellent, his art made the big crossover brawl at least 3 times better.

yeah, while i appreciate the fact Heinberg is retconning the disaster that was Disassembled/HoM, the actual means is...flimsy, to say the least. starting to think this mini would've been more appropriately titled Scarlet Witch: Rebirth, as it's a very "giant yellow fear cockroach"-esque explanation.

personally, i'm still loving the mini, and the last page was especially great, but truthfully, i hope by the end all of this is just swept under the rug, Wanda gets "reset buttoned" and we move on with no further mention of this ever.

I don't think it will be... this has been pointed to as one of several reasons for the X-Men Schism... notice Wolvie sided with the Avengers.

How many more issues of this? And, for that matter, how long has this been running? It feels like years, but it's only issue #7.

Yep, Marvel and Alonso have said for the last 2-3 months there's a reason why Schism, Fear Itself, and this book are ending around the same time.

Great issue. Love this mini series, especially the art. Cheung is all kinds of awesome. I'm excited to see Wanda's status quo when it's all said and done. Although I have my doubts this will be finished when Schism and Fear Itself end. Even on a bi-monthly schedule this series won't end until January and that's if there's no delays.

The Avengers, X-Factor, and Pieto take on the X-men. Magneto is all o_O at Cyclops for acting like him. Wanda knocks everyone but the YA out and goes back to Latveria to Doom. we learn the reason wanda went nuts is due to her and Vic for unleashing too much power. the pair with wiccan try again. at first it appears it han't worked until wanda is back to her oold powerset. issue ends with Doom having the power of reality changing.

I liked the explanation for why Wanda went nuts, even though I never minded the old reasons either. The ending with Doom was great as well. I am still enjoying this series, but I agree with the thought that it probably wasn't a good idea to have a bi-monthly, nine issue limited series. Although I'm still a fan of it, I do still have a feeling that's it's been going on a bit too long.

if they had it announced as a monthly inevitably something would have happened and it would have been late, and people would have complained. Just going off of prior history with the creators, i understand why they announced it as bi-montly.

Let me translate from Zechsian into English:

Rictor has his power restored by Wanda. Avengers show up to protect Wanda. X-Men show up to arrest Wanda. Everybody gets written out of character.
Captain America says "Justice is not important, we protect our own"
Cyclops says "Wanda screwed with millions of mutants and the Avengers don't speak for mutantkind"
Magneto says "Stop being a asshole, Cyclops, only I get to be a asshole."
Wanda says "I'll give everyone their powers back."
Cyclops says "You screwed us the first time, do you really think we're going to trust you again"
Avengers and X-Men fight. Wolverine pops his claws and seems to be attacking the ground.
Wanda knocks out both sides and then goes to make out with Doom.
YA ask how Wanda going crazy happens.
Wanda says she was distraught over the loss of her kids and therefore decided Doom was the best person to help her.
Wanda, Wiccan and Doom start casting a spell to give mutants their powers back
Patriot states that Doom can't be trusted. And using Hawkingbird's bow, shoots Wanda.
The power ends up in Doom's possession, and he now has a unscarred face.

In short this comic has all the logical consistency of something written by Jeph Loeb. :smt011
