I wouldn't expect even the Raimi Spider-man films to have the Black Cat in the classic costume and those were far less grounded in "reality" (meaning they were actually fun).

The ears look stupid. The fact that they serve a function just makes it even more silly..

It all feels very out of place with the tone Nolan has set up.

I don't think the 'ears' and costume is any less silly that the Batman costume. Actually, it's a lot more believable. The fact they make what looks like cat ears seems like an afterthought and a reason why a witness would see her silhouette and call her Catwoman.

they call her catwoman because she's a cat burglar.

She really doesn't need the animal motif.

But yeah Batman's costume is silly looking in normal light. In my opinion that is one costume that has never rally transferred well to the silver screen anyways.

I get that, but in a town where some guy goes around dressed like a bat and they call him Batman, I can see a witness describing a person running away "looking like some kind of cat-woman" and the media running with it.

that's my favorite explanation of it.

Spider-man having Jameson inventing all the villain names was a stroke of genius in my opinion.
