Facebook is the opposite of user friendly....

Postby Rockman » Mon Sep 26, 2011 4:00 pm

So I decided today to delete all the private messages I had in facebook, stuff that I accumulated over 5-6 years. It wasn't as much as you would think because they eventually collapsed all the ones with the same people into "conversations".

Anyways I had to open each conversation up and delete it manually, what a cumbersome task.

If I wanted to do the same thing in hotmail I can click two buttons and literally delete like 50 messages at a time.

And honestly I hate to complain about a free service and what not, but its irritating the lengths they go to basically force you to remove things from that website.

I just went down a list and clicked "X".

Didn't really seem like that much of a hassle... :smt102

you just archived it.

To delete it you need to open each conversation and select "delete message" from a drop down menu.

at the bottom of your page their is a button that says view archives, when you click it you'll see every conversation still there.

Anyways for your purposes it might not matter, maybe you just don't want your inbox cluttered. If so then you're golden like a shower at Jude's house.

For me though I like to delete old messages in the event that I get nostalgic one day and decide to read them again. Which I don't want to do because then I'll get sad. And I don't like being sad.

Yeah, I guess I just don't care after my inbox is empty.

If this sort of things makes you sad, do what I do: Stop caring.

Sad in the same way that old photographs make people sad. Just another reminder of days gone by.

Its pretty much the reason I've stopped taking pictures.

Huh. I stopped pictures because an old Eskimo shaman told me they can capture your soul. And I've already collected enough of those. Turns out, you can archive them, but you can't delete them without a major hassle.

Old pictures for me are usually like "Thank God that's over!".
