Why can Bond be changed but Shaft has to remain the same? Because you KNOW that if Jason Stantham played Shaft's other nephew with the same last name, there'd be hell to pay.

If they wanted to cast the most recent Magneto, though... that'd work for me!

Of all the “change the white guy to a black guy” things ever proposed, to me, the James Bond thing makes the least sense. *

Still better than the first black James Bond suggestion, Will Smith. At least he’s not the default “lets get a black guy” to sell tickets to minorities anymore Because they flock to movies with black actors in them and whites don’t flee, regardless of whether it makes logical sense..

*(Smith’s daughter as Annie is pretty close though).
