Regular nick fury is cooler than ultimate nick fury. Especially the fact that he’s been in every major conflict since wwii. Taking him away from that hurts the character imo
Also, Jackson so far is just playing himself. He seems to have no other acting speed, at least these days.
I think stars in these roles are a mistake anyway. Too distracting. They rarely bury themselves in the role
Actually Ultimate Nick Fury has been in the same amount of wars as 616 Nick Fury.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_Nick_FuryNicholas Fury fought for the United States in World War II. During the invasion of Sicily, he, along with Private Fisk and Canadian paratrooper Corporal Howlett, attempted to loot a house. American military police arrived to arrest them, and all three were subdued. Fisk was grazed by a bullet, while Fury was imprisoned in an unknown location alongside several other black men, and Howlett, despite protests that he was Canadian, was also shipped to an unknown location.[2] Fury was selected to be the next test subject for Project: Rebirth, as his blood work most closely matched that of Subject #22, the most successful of the previous test subjects. He was injected with a serum that gave him super-strength, which he used to free himself and the other prisoners, who then escaped. The scientists who were working on him let him escape, deciding that they have all the information that they needed for now.[3]

Really? I don't know. As one dude to another, I think he's got that rugged handsome thing going.

Elba would be a great Bond.
Cross racial casting should only be an issue when a character is culturally tied to his Race.
"White" was the default position for a lot of characters in 19th and 20th century fiction and "Whiteness" wasn't an important part of who they were. Cross racial casting is easier with these White-by-default characters.
Characters that weren't White were often defined by their Otherness, so it's a bit harder to replace them with actors of different ethnicities.
I get the Heimdal casting being a problem with the Norse thing, but the Agardians being aliens is way out of that argument. I saw no problem with MCD as Kingpin and would have loved to see Glover as Spidey. I do have a problem with the Jackson Fury but only 'cause being Black creates a major change to his backstory. It means he wasn't a Sargent in WWII leading the Howlers.

The only one I have ever had an issue with was Glover as Spider-Man. Other than that, I agree with Pagla.

There, Tim. Whites aren't 'culturally tied to their race', and this casting idea is ok because of it. Plus several agreements.

Well that's the Jackson Fury I was talking about. Probably should referred to him as Ultimate Fury.

So you're pretty much okay with them turning any white character black, it sounds like.
