This was a lot more traditional than Action Comics #1, but it was still enjoyable and showcased a brave new world for Superman, and it was cool to see the character and his world changing. The demolition of the old Daily Planet building was the perfect way to demonstrate that this isn’t the old Superman anymore, he’s changed and so has Metropolis. I really think that they wanted to show a more modern Superman, and they succeeded, even if some people might find the mentions of Twitter egregious. Perez is writing a different, more experienced Superman here than Morrison’s, but they are still recognisably the same person, there’s still a bit of the anti-establishment rebel here, as shown by Clark’s strident anti-corporate stance and Superman’s less-than-saintly attitude towards the criminals. The fire-villain he faced was a little generic and the page that tied into Stormwatch felt really out of place, but this was still a good Superman comic, perhaps a little busy with the amount of narration and caption boxes but still good. I also liked Clark and Lois not being together, it brings back some of the pathos to the character, and the scene at the end where he apologises to her was probably the issue’s strongest. Jesus Merino’s art was good, but just like Rags Morales he gave Jimmy Olsen stupid hair! The DC reboot has destroyed Jimmy Olsen! Let’s boycott it!

Is DC trying to start rumors of Justin Bieber playing Jimmy in the new Superman movie?

Waiting on this all to be Heros Reborn'd out. This just isnt Superman too me. And Lois that can't connect Superman and Clark just seems wrong. It makes her seem to dumb to be as good a reporter as she is supposed to be.

Mind you, she never figured out in the MOS era, either.

I know and that always bugged me. They always said she was one of the best reporters ever but couldnt see what was right there and obvious.
It's been all but said that Perry knew who Superman was but just kept his mouth shut just like Gordon has done with Batman. They dont even try that with Lois.

You're forgetting that Clark Kent is also a brilliant reporter, he'll know how to stop her finding out.

I agree with you on the Stormwatch page - that was just a head scratcher.

While the villain was generic and the clean-up afterwards too convenient, the introductions of everyone was worthwhile and well done. I like the contrast with Action with how Metropolis sees Superman.

I loved that this book has more words in it that any ten other books combined. It felt like I was READING a comic again (which was awesome). Thumps up to Perez.

Agreed. It was nice to read a comic that took more than ten minutes to finish. As a first issue, it did a great job establishing the supporting cast as well as Superman. I also loved Merino's art.
