True story about chase: a friend of mine worked at one of the first video rental stores in London back in the early eighties. It was in a fairly central location so they used to get quite a few American stars come and join so they could rent movies while they were filming in London.
Anyway, one day Chase came in and spent the whole time joking around and cracking wise (on his membership form, for instance, he listed his occupation as 'cleaning lady.') My friend is a huge Steely Dan fan and he was listening to Aja: Chase said, "Hmmm... Steely Dan. I was in that band, but then they sold out so I left," then changed the subject. My friend laughed, but thought nothing of it.
A few years later he was reading some biography of the band and it turned out that Chevy Chase had, in fact, been the band's drummer in the early days before leaving to concentrate on his comedy...
