Is Marvel Going Towards Their Own 52?

Postby Cat-Scratch » Thu Nov 17, 2011 10:58 pm

With the news this week of so many titles being canceled plus DC Comics recent relaunch success, is Marvel maybe heading towards copying with a similar event?

Would it work?

How would you do it?

What character(s) would get revamped?

I would make everyone have underwear on the outside of their costumes.

No. Perlmutter is just cutting the costs involved with publishing and depending on licensing to increase business and make him look good to Disney suits.

This does seem more likely, but could Marvel try the 52 route?

Anyway. I'd prefer to see the old old method of trying a series out as a mini first. If sales are good enough, go for an ongoing status.

They could. I think they'll just cancel most of their mid-list and raise prices on all their books to at least 3.99.

They really should focus on having lines with lines. Spider-Man, Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four and Marvel Heroes for what's left. Also, a standard price makes life easier to move back and forth on titles, I think.

Yeah I think Avengers X-Sanction and the Phoenix Return are going to be the catalysts for the Marvel Reboot. As long as DC continues to well sales wise for the next year or so, then yeah Marvel is gonna do it, it is just inevitable.

No I dont think they will. They have the Ultimate Universe for the younger type stories. I Love Marvel because they have balls to go ahead with what they have instead of taking years of stories and flushing them.

I've been losing interest in non-X titles at Marvel for years now. I'm not sure what they could do to win me back (hire better writers, maybe?) but if they did do a "relaunch" a la DC. I'd at least give them a chance.

They have the best stable of writers they've ever had? Clearly you have poor taste.

Okay, I'll rephrase. Put the good writers they have on books that I'll read.

Put Aaron on a book. I'll read it. Put Rucka on a book. I'll read it. Put Remender on a book. I'll read it.

Brubaker? Fraction? Gage? Slott? Bendis? (et al) No thanks, been there, read that. (This isn't to say that at any given time these writers COULDN'T still impress me, it just means that their names have absolutely no curb appeal to me because I feel like I've seen all there is to see from them.)
