DCnU Shocker: Paul Cornell off Stormwatch

Postby LOLtron » Wed Dec 07, 2011 12:18 pm

DCnU Shocker: Paul Cornell off StormwatchPaul Cornell will be leaving Stormwatch after issue #6.

Paul Cornell announced today on his twitter feed that he will be leaving the DC title Stormwatch as of Issue #6.  Paul Jenkins will be coming on the title for a two issue arc starting on Issue #7.  DC has not said who will be coming on the series as of issue #9.

This is only the latest creator news to rock the comics industry.  Yesterday, beloved fan favorites Gail Simone and Brian Bendis were both confirmed to be leaving Fury of Firestorm and every Avengers title on the market (save Secret Avengers and the Janet Van Dyne School for Miscreant Avengers).  Stay tuned to the Outhouse for more information as it comes in.

And Boom goes the Dynamite? Even if I was disappointed with the first issue, I also understand that this book is one of the cult favorites of this relaunch. Here's to hoping DC gets a worthy writer beyond Jenkins to take his place.

When Saucer County was announced I had a suspicion something had to give. I'm sad it's Stormwatch as I was enjoying the book a great deal. I'll probably stick around for Jenkins' arc, but I'd like to see who they have on deck as a permanent replacement before I decide properly.

We shouldn't know this doesn't bode well for Vertigo.

Don't even joke about that. That'd be Tom Cruise level of crazy. :x

Terry Kavanagh must be just sitting by the phone at this stage.

Knowing DC, and given that the two leads are gay (although this iteration of Apollo and Midnighter sure don't act it), they'll probably get Chuck Dixon and Mike Miller. Or Orson Card.

how does one "act gay?" in the history of this volume of the book, they JUST met relationships happen over time..

Did you want them to dress in drag? or immediately start having butt secks with each other?

It was a joke, based on the previous treatment of the characters ,

Dan Didio is homophobic. To amuse himself, he lets Chuck Dixon, a noted homophobe, write a Grifter/Midnighter series. Following THAT, he puts Mike Miller on the Authority, despite having fired him years ago for making grossly offensive homophobic comments. THEN, reboots the characters to get rid of their pesky, Jesus-baiting gay marriage. I've read four issues and NOTHING indicates that they're a gay couple.

Of course, the series is so bad they barely resemble Apollo and Midnighter to begin with, but, whatever. I just thought Cornell, who's married to a friggin female Vicar....I've had drinks with him - I just thought he'd be better than this.
