Movies/Story: LoTR > SW
Characters: SW > LoTR (more diverse character types in SW)
Universe: SW > LoTR (there's not as much expanded universe stuff for LoTR)

Lord of the Rings, mostly because Jackson knows how to direct people and get the most out of them to tell a great story. Where as Lucas does not know how to direct people and just assumes he can replace them in post.

I can't stand watching any of those stupid videos because of the dude's voice. Of all the mocking voices he chooses a dude who sounds always out of breath?

Dude.. Sam and Frodo crossed the really close friend line in RoTK. They where good friends until freaking movie 3. That's what stays in Mordor never leaves Mordor.

I can't even leave Spike on for 5 minutes when they're constantly replaying the Star Wars movie.
For me the height of the original Star Wars movies was when Vader reveals he's Luke's father. One of the best scenes ever and the prequels took a huge dump on it. No longer will any new viewer to the series find that scene to be as powerful now that they have to watch little orphan Annie through the first three movies. Nope. I can't stand Star Wars.
Yeah, that's something that bothers me, as well.

Has anyone ever read the biblical story of David and Jonathan?
If they made a movie about it, people would probably say those two were gay. That'a just the current trend in psychoanalysis of male bonds. If you're that close to your male friend, you have to be gay. Pretty soon we'll be saying that Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer were boning each other or that Butch and Sundance were having secret gay sex.
For those who fail to understand the bond between Frodo and Sam (or Pippen and Merry), understand they had an objective to achieve and in terms of Sam, he was supposed to see Frodo's quest through to the end as per Gandalf's instruction. The idea that through all of this despair, two people could stick together and get shit done is hardly gay. It's just what male relationships were like at the time. There have been a lot of characters written that way throughout history. Get over it. If you think it's REALLY gay, you really need to get out of the house more.

what gay is his direction of them, not the characters.

Lord of the Rings, no contest.
The only good thing to really come out Star Wars wise lately was Tartakovsky's Clone Wars, everything else was tripe.

Nice to see the Rings getting so much love.
They really can be long films, but I do think there's craft there. It also makes the build up and the drama leading to the battles better.
