Women and gay men everywhere have been keenly awaiting Steven Soderbergh's male stripper film "Magic Mike" with its all-star cast of beefcake including Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello and more.
Today however Channing Tatum has let down those dreams a little by confirming one bit of information - none of these guys will do a Michael Fassbender in "Shame" style flash.
“Hard R. It’s a very hard R. Not NC-17, we don’t want it to go that far. You’ve got a bunch of naked guys. It won’t be full frontal, it’s just thongs or whatever you want to call them and underwear” he tells Collider.
He adds that the tone will be comedic - "It’s a fun movie; we wrote it to be fun. We actually wrote it very comedically and in knowing Soderbergh’s style, he doesn’t punch in for close-ups and he doesn’t shoot in a very classic comedic way, so I think, overall, it will make it fun. The stuff that is happening is kind of outlandish, the characters at times will be bizarre."
"White Collar" star Matt Bomer adds that he worked out and gained about 15 pounds for his role in 'Mike'. However because of some of the other huge guys involved, he focused on having a swimmer's build rather than getting big.
As for the story? "It’s actually a really intricate plot, it’s very of a Saturday Night Fever/Boogie Nights ilk". He adds that his role is that of a "fellow dancer who’s a big part of bringing The Kid [Alex Pettyfer] a little deeper into what it means to be in that world of stripping."
