Discussion: New 52's First CasualtiesWhat titles got canned in the first round of cancellations from the NuDCU? Find out, and join us on the forums to talk smack about it!

Outhouse Poster Zero kicks off the discussion:

Men of War, Mister Terrific, O.M.A.C., Hawk and Dove, Blackhawks and Static Shock all vanish after #8. No surprises there really, they were books with poor as hell sales and mixed critical response. OMAC is maybe the least obvious choice because it did get a few fans and the EIC writes it. Oh well, it sucked.

New books a-coming though with Batman Inc coming back for more and James Robinson’s JSA title ’Earth 2’ the highest profile ones. The China Mieville book excites me most, since I love his books, H.E.R.O. and Brian Bolland.

Losing OMAC is a shame. The others, no big loss.

Crisis on multiple Earths. Parallel worlds have been in DC's wheelhouse for a while, and they waited till the second wave to really get into the nitty-gritty of heroes from other Earths. Writer James Robinson reteams with the Justice Society for the new series Earth 2, which is being drawn by Nicola Scott, while Huntress and Power Girl are stranded on our world and want to return to theirs in Worlds' Finest, written by Paul Levitz with art by George Perez and Kevin Maguire in rotating story arcs. "What does that mean to be exiles from that Earth 2?" Harras says. "We thought it'd be a nice thing to bring this concept back and to really, as we did with the 52 initially, reconceive it and freshen it up."

Power Girl and the closest thing to the one true Huntress, Helena Wayne I'll probably ever see in the DCnu? HOOAH!

Still not crazy about the JSA being exlied to Earth-2 though. It'd be cooler if they were in the DCnU, but always worked in the shadows, never being exposed to the public.

If they're secret, you can't have them inspire any of the current generation of heroes. It'd be weird.

Not saying it would work, but they could almost be urban legends. They just couldn't be as 'obvious' and certainly not the JSA we know. I don't think the DCnU could pull it off.

That could be really cool.

Without having to worry about affecting the other heroes, they can really go to town on Earth 2. It could be more of a real reboot rather than the watered down affair we've gotten with DCnU so far.

I don't think that anyone could pull off secret geriatric heroes.

I don't think it serves anything other than to squeak through the "heroes are just emerging" thing that DC decided on.

The way I figure it, you could have the JLA or somebody discover that this group of heroes existed in the past that worked clandestinely to protect the world from evil. The JSAers could still end up being "inspirations" to the current heroes, they just would do so in a different way.

Though I do feel that saying the only thing the JSA would be good for is "inspiring the current generation of heroes" is kind of limiting in a way.

Well for the DCnU versions, I'd probably have the JSAers in their late 40's or early 50's, much like they were when they were re-introduced in the 60's. It'd get rid of the WWII ties, more or less. But it'd solve a lot of problems by not having them so tied-down to historical points in time, when the current heroes are more or less "timeless."
