I'm not sure, if they limit themselves to extraterrestrial threats, but they have been operating in secret for generations, apparently.

So, if a character hasn't appeared or hasn't been talked about in the past five months since the relaunch, that means that they will never, ever show up in the DCnU? Is that what you're saying?
