Arrow Pilot Is Green Lit

Postby LOLtron » Wed Jan 18, 2012 9:11 pm

Arrow Pilot Is Green LitThe Green Arrow TV project continues to move forward as the CW has opted for a pilot and has retitled it as Arrow.

Green Lantern writers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim are attached to the project which will be a retelling of the Jaded Archer's origin. That's right, this won't be a continuing of Justin Hartely's Smallville Green Arrow either. This will be a new origin with a "modern retelling" of the comic book character.

The only other news attached to the project now is David Nutter has been "attached" to direct the pilot.

I still wish they did Supermax. That would be an interesting tv series too.

That's a horrible title. I get that Green Lantern didn't do as well as they hoped, but dropping Green from the title of this just makes it sound stupid.

And I was really hoping this wasn't going to be an origin thing, though I can't say I'm surprised.

I'm surprised they didn't just use the public domain character of the Arrow.

Not everyone watched "Smallville" so why should they use that character again ? Please. Initially fan-boys bitched that he was so young

They should use Green Arrow: Year One as the pilot.

Arrow isn't abt better than Green Arrow so I don't see the need to change the name. :smt102

The guy on Smallville wasn't very good so I'm glad they're changing that.

I hated that guy. And I hated that version of the Green Arrow.

I mean, don't get me wrong...I hate the Green Arrow (and Hawkeye), so in general, I'm just not a fan of the concept. But Smaville GA was just so...douchey. It was like, "nigga, you can't be talking shit to Superman when you haven't even caught on to the idea of gunpowder yet. So Clark's wasting his talents just sitting around the farm fucking Erica Durance? Just imagine how much more crime you could stop if you used your nigh-uncanny sense of aim with a gun."

Not really opposed to a GA TV series, because there's always the chance it won't suck, I reckon. But I certainly won't miss the Smallville version.

I'm imagining this meeting.

"Ok, let's do a Green Arrow tv series. But we'll only call it 'Arrow'. That sound cooler."

"Yeah, ok. Let's look at his origin in the comics. Hmm, I don't know about this. Let's just make up a new origin."

"Sounds great! A fresh look at Oliver Queen!"

"Yeah, I don't know about that name. Oliver? Ollie? I don't think that will test well. And Queen? sounds gay."

"I think you're right, we'll do a different name to go with the new origins and dropping Green from the title."

"But it's still totally based on Green Arrow"

"Right, just not using anything from the comics"

They could make Green Arrow into a hot chick. As long as she keeps her goatee shaved, I'd watch the first episode, at least.
