The only way I'd say that is if he came out and admitted that he was a terrible president who has wasted trillions of dollars on economic stimulus that didn't grow the economy at all.

Well, considering how bad at being President he is, his only chance is the idiot's brigade of Republican nominees. They're all busy doing his job for him, so all he has to do is sit back and enjoy the bloodshed.

On another note, I wonder what, if anything, Pelosi has on Gingrich? It can't be the ethic's committee thing, everyone already knows that, and he was cleared of any wrongdoing months later by the IRS anyway. So what else could it be---the guy is a pretty ethically challenged person... Or is she lying as usual?

It'd be funny if Cooter from the Dukes of Hazzard had an impact on the race because he lost an election to Gingrich years ago... :lol:

Strange too that Gingrich never sued for libel or slander or whatever it was. I wonder if he could have sued the member who prosecuted him in that way? Or Cooter?

It was the usual, telling people what they want to hear and trying to play up to both sides to some degree.

One of my favorite parts was when he promised us an economy less strongly tied to the rest of the world--riiiiiiiight.

Before this it was green jobs or tech jobs, this time he tried to push manufacturing jobs and pretend there would be some huge groundswell of new manufacturing jobs in the states. :lol:

I didn't watch Barry's speech. But I saw a headline on CNN.com saying that he had emphasized reviving the American Dream. I found that odd, since it was only a couple of months ago that he gave a speech saying that America really ain't all that, and American exceptionalism is a myth.

Well, he probably views the American Dream and American exceptionalism as two distinct concepts. So his statements aren't as contradictory as they might seem.

The American Dream entails the opportunity to succeed and prosper. American exceptionalism suggests that America is somehow significantly different from, and perhaps superior to, all other countries.

Good point. Yet I think they are related, because access to the American Dream means access to social capital. And there are a lot of countries where your access to social capital is determined pretty much at birth. This isn't one of those countries. That makes us exceptional at least in that regard.

Obama is the oddest president we’ve had in some time. He’s a very hard guy to warm up to. He doesn’t really believe in individualism, which the country was founded on, but collectivism.

As can be expected, he has said different things about American Exceptionalism depending on his audience.
