ComicBook.com is reporting that the third installment in the Iron Man movie franchise will go into production in late April or early May, nearly a month before it had previously been announced and possibly prior to the May 4 release of Marvel's forthcoming film adaptation of The Avengers.

ComicBook.com is reporting that the third installment in the Iron Man movie franchise will go into production in late April or early May, nearly a month before it had previously been announced and possibly prior to the May 4 release of Marvel's forthcoming film adaptation of The Avengers.

According to the report, multiple sources close to the production have confirmed the early start, with one source even telling the website that Marvel will have representatives present at the EUE/Screen Gems Studios in North Carolina as early as the middle of March.

While Marvel did not verify the report, a studio rep apparently told ComicBook.com that their sources were "likely accurate" but that there was nothing solid about the April date. "It's not April for sure" was the response the website got, leaving the reporter and readers to wonder whether that was meant to say that it's slated for April, but the date is uncertain, or that it's definitely not scheduled for April.

The production will be the largest in the history of North Carolina and has been described by Marvel Studios as ushering in a new era of Marvel Universe films after The Avengers culminates the ones that have already been released.

yeah they've kind of hinted at the mandarin since the first one.. I'm sure it won't be exactly like the character in the comics, but i can't think of any other character i'd wanna see fight him. All the rest of the villains seem to be "guys in suits of armor" and after 2 movies with pretty much that premise for bad guys they kind of need to change it up.

Thor did a great job of showing how 'magic' is just another type of technology (the Reed Richards approach).

Spy Master and Living Laser.

I think Black has said he doesn't want to do the Mandarin.

I hope that's a lie, and it's actually the Mandarin, but I don't think it will be. And those two would make for a fun potential story with corporate espionage and the Laser could be a great visual villain that could lead to some interesting fights.

Which is why it's not magic and not really something that sets up Dr Strange.
