I'm in Athens for a Conference and I brought my wife alone. We went to see Shame at a local art-house theater. Movie has some phenomenal acting, by the way.

Always been squeamish around blood in the real world (similar experiences to this in the past), but never from watching a movie or TV or anything. There's a particularly bloody scene at the end. I remember reaching for my wife's knee and the next thing I know she's patting me on the face asking me if I'm OK.

Worst part is I missed the last four or so minutes of the movie

It's happened a few times in real life. When I was in high school might brother cut his finger on some glass and I passed out twice. Then I passed out at a physical watching my blood get drawn. Then I cut my finger in my first year teaching and passed out in the hallway. The last one was probably scariest since I lived alone.

Is that a seizure? I know people who faint at the sight/smell of blood. I get pretty sick when I see and smell it too.

One time my grandmother was sewing with the machine and I was sleeping on the couch and she woke me up telling me to come see what she was doing. I got up and she had the sewing machine needle embedded in her thumb and she was all showing that shit off. So I removed the needle and all the blood came pouring out, so I had to disinfect and dress it and I was about to die.

The weird thing is, when I cut myself and it bleeds, which I do kind of often, I have no problem. When it's someone else's blood I just want to vomit.

I would still go to a doctor ASAP. It might be nothing but you don't want to take a chance.

Glad you're alright Syxx. I agree it probably wasn't a seizure, but couldn't hurt to talk to the doc just in case (especially if you have insurance).

It sounds almost like a psychogenic seizure. It's caused by panic disorders sometimes.
