That's a bit silly. I have an opinion and i stated so without insulting anyone. These are not reviews, end of story, and simply stating that doesn't merit finger waggling from anyone.

If i can't address punchy directly, how should i address concerns with site content?

What's silly is opening a thread that you know from past experience is going to piss you off. Also, I'm not sure where I told you that you couldn't address Punchy directly.

It strikes me that since the little incident yesterday, we've smelled blood in the water and have decided that it's time to give Punchy a bit of a kicking. Now, I'm not saying that he's not annoying at times. And I daresay some people may have found it cathartic, amusing and fulfilling. However, one suspects it may be time for everyone to back off for a little while.

And yes, that includes Punchy himself (before some bright spark thinks to chime in about it).

:smt017 not pissed off. Just thought I'd state an observation. My point being, i can't really address punchy directly in this case without fear of being called a name, or a mod coming in telling my that i shouldn't criticize these things.

For the record, Punchy's not trying to give a detailed analysis of book. He's kicking off a discussion thread about the book, something that often people don't bother to do. This is a discussion thread, not a full-bodied review.

As for the format, he's simply doing what Jude and I have asked. People bitched about him only sharing his opinions about the books he reads in the now defunct Comic Reader's thread, so he started spreading them out. Then people bitched at him about how these things weren't put on the front page so he created TWiP. If you have an issue with it, I highly encourage you to start your own threads about the comics you read on a weekly basis. Punchy has no problem talking about them there too.

Punchy's actually a pretty good reviewer and I'd encourage everyone who disparages his writing to check out his reviews in the Review Group thread or some of his main reviews.

It's quite sad that people seem to be so keen on jumping on the "Beat up Punchy" boat.

Well, I'd make two points here. Firstly: you've made the observation, we know you don't like the threads, you've addressed him directly and it's all good. You're allowed to criticise them, but I just think that the Punchy-bashing (and no, I'm not actually talking about you here) is out of hand now and should ease up. Secondly, if he calls you a name I will tell him not to do so.

But my original point stands as well: these threads of his stick to a formula. You should treat them the way I tend to treat certain other people (who shall remain nameless)'s threads: don't open them if you can help it. Your Outhouse visit will be far more fulfilling for it.

2 points.

Leave Punchy to his opinions. These aren't reviews. If you don't like it, do like BS said and make your own thread or move the fuck along.

Punchy - get a thicker skin. Name calling with intent proves that what they're saying gets to you. Ignore it.

If you want to have a discussion thread, then label them as such. If you want to do a review, you need to actually give some information to people about that issue, recap the plot, discuss themes, etc; but just saying
"Oh wow! i really liked Cable and the art in this issue!" doesn't really cut it.

You do better then.

Punchy can be a bit of an ass, but complaining about the specific classifications of his little review/discussion threads is fucking ridiculous.

These threads are fine and when it doesn't turn into a thread bitching about the formatting (always by the same couple of guys) they generally get a little discussion going on books (usually also by the same couple of guys, though different from the previous group).

Anyways, this book looked like trash, and I'm glad I'm not reading it.

This whole thing is fucking ridiculous, I didn't label it as a review or title the thread 'Avengers: X-Sanction #3 Review', I just referred to it in passing as a review, what's the harm in that?

But as Nieto and BS have said, it seems to be open season on me at the moment, and it's not exactly fun.

I know some of you have a problem with this style (and with me), but I'm going to ignore you from now on because I know others appreciate them, when I took a 2 week break after Christmas I got PMs asking about them, so at least some people like them. If you don't... it's your problem, not mine, because I'm actually very proud of my output here.

In fairness, you did have spoilers in the titles that were a bit too much back before you started using the random lines.

I think I was one of the people complaining about that back then. But you stopped doing that and it's no longer an issue.

Beyond that, there's really nothing to bitch about with these threads. Except when they are for shitty books, like this one.

I remember the one week where Punchy entitled every thread with (I can't believe he died! Spoilers) or something like that.

I got a good laugh out of that.
