Incorruptible and Irredeemable No More

Postby LOLtron » Mon Feb 06, 2012 1:08 pm

Incorruptible and Irredeemable No MoreThe end is near for Boom's Incorruptible and Irredeemable.

In an interview with Rama, series writer Mark Waid has confirmed that the end is near for both books. The final story arcs will be Irredeemable #34-#37 and Incorruptible #27-#30.

On why the books are ending, here's Waid's answer:

Okay, really, truly — I'm just stretched thin right now both personally and professionally, and I live in mortal fear that I'm going to overstay my welcome on these books. Moreover, I feel that Max Damage's character arc is reaching its end in Incorruptible. And in Irredeemable, I've long known what the end of that series is, and lately, it's as if all the characters are moving into position for it whether I want them to or not. So let's go out big and grand, I say.

Too late.

These both should have been 12 issues mini-series.

I'm glad to see a creator actually decide to end a series rather than having it continue on indefinitely. Both Irredeemable and Incorruptible are stories that beg for closure, and I'm glad that Waid sees it that way.

Awwww!

Hopefully the ending is good and it ends with the chance for stories further down the line.

the trades for these series are the worst value in comics.

I'm SilverPhoenix and I approve of this message. While I was hoping Incorruptible would reach Issue #50, the whole saga would've benefittied from ending 6 months earlier as I thought Incorruptible started to drag its feet.

I can't wait to see how it all ends and I give props to Waid for having the stones to do so. Lets just hope if he does revisit the "Irredeemable Universe", it's a much different story than this one.

The BOOM! floppies and trades always seem to cost a bit more than most other comics. The price for the digital collections is much more modest at $6.99 per trade.

To me, its the lack of story progress in the trades that lessen thier value
both of these books took decompression to a whole new level of slowness

Good.

I'd rather he stay on Daredevil for a few years, instead.
