I want this game... but not enough to buy a PSP for. Well, I'll be in Japan when this is released. I hope I can remember to look for a game guide for it..

There were a bunch of SICs that had... replicas made of them. Something about a seal on the package helped you to tell them apart.

I hear about these a bunch on these boards. I'm not sure which thread though (usually it is while reading a thread I'm interested in, eg the SIC threads located in the tokusatsu section):

This is a tough one. You have to know that I am a simple person. I don't mind overlooking a lot of corniness and bad effects if I like the intent. A lot of Kamen Rider has a lot of goofy components to them (esp since it is for kids and they need to sell toys).

I grew up with the showa riders; the rider TV series made before 2000. Things were pretty cheap and were mostly monster of the week type shows (though there were some storylines that carried over). Still, I loved them. They would often team up for big shows/movies to fight a big enemies. I remember as a kid, going to a live show they brought here and got the "autographs" from all of the riders at the time. It was my treasure.

The Heisei riders (2000 and on) took me a while to warm up to. Each series were separate and told its own story. Though there were monsters of the week, it tended to have longer arcs. I guess you could start from there and see which storyline hooks you. Wiki has a brief synopsis of each series:

EDIT: Oh yeah forgot to mention... More recently the series have been crossing over. Starting with Kamen Rider Decade (which celebrated the 10th year of Heisei riders) had the main character crossing parallel worlds and meeting versions of the Hesei riders and eventually some of the Showa ones. This culminated in two movies that crossed over all of the riders. In the current series, Now as Kamen Rider celebrates its 40th anniversary, there are more crossover movies going on.

I've been watching Power Rangers on Netflix and I've had to do a lot of that. It could be some really good stuff if they tried a little harder.

But it's still a blast up until they use the zords.

I think they had the American version of Kamen Rider and another of this type of show.

More recently though they tried to do Kamen Rider Dragon Knight (adapting Kamen Rider Ryuuki). I think the ratings killed it though. I never watched, but then again was no fan of Ryuuki.

Funny thing is a love giant robots but I do hate the whole "Zord" thing. I was so glad in the last Gokaiger I watched they FINALLY skipped that part. Of course the series is almost over...

I didn't watch Kuuga (first of the Heisei). I think I was reacting to the new generation. I watched maybe the first 3 and decided I wasn't that interested. I should go back and watch it... Watching Decade (though it is a different version of Godai) I came to like him. This introduced multiple forms to the Heisei era, which they use a lot. In the Showa era it was common for a rider to get an upgrade, but this went way beyond that.

The first Hesei series I sorta liked was Agito (the second series). It has one of my favorite designs for a (sorta) rider, Another Agito. This series introduced to the Heisei series, the concept of multiple riders in a series.

Never got into Ryuuki. Didn't like the adversarial nature of the show and none of the characters were likable (to me).

Faiz (555) was pretty okay, as were Blade (had a card gimmick like Ryuuki) and Kabuto.(lightning speed was a gimmick here).

Never got into Hibiki (musical instrument and demon theme). Also did not like Den-O that much (though I think Cat does) but kind of liked some of the movies after initially being totally confused by the stories. Also never got into Kiva, which had a horror theme, but it seems Cat and Addison liked it.

I rather enjoyed Decade for the most part. This was the world hopping series that connected the different heisei (and a couple of showa) series. I don't think Cat liked it much. I did NOT like how the series resolved itself though. Confusing and kind of dumb. Did think the visiting of other worlds was an interesting hook though.

After hating on W in the first episode, I grew to really like this series. I think it's my favorite from this era. It's sort of a Firestorm rider, where two people combine to be Kamen Rider W (W sounding like how the Japanese pronounce "double").

OOO was pretty interesting too. I did not like the main character much, but did like the secondary rider and the story. It was interesting.

So far I am liking Fourze a lot. Yes it is kind of dumb. But it is exuberant and fun. Story has some interesting potential too. Like that they incorporate the older riders (both Showa and Heisei) as urban legends.
