chap22 wrote:honestly, Spidey 1 was great more b/c of what it represented, and showed what could actually be done with superhero movies. finally, we all believed a man could swing.

but yeah, on repeated viewings, it doesn't age incredibly well. there are still some scenes in it which are timeless, and were good then and will be good years from now, but there are also some really groan-inducing bits in there too. Spidey 2 is better in damn near every way (with the exception of any scene where Aunt May is onscreen), and has what is still my favorite extended scene in any superhero movie ever (the whole Spidey-Doc Ock train fight sequence leading up to the passengers standing between Pete & Ock), and ages better than 1, but still has some flaws.

OTOH, i think all the Marvel Studios stuff stands up much MUCH better to repeat viewings over time.

Nothing here I don't agree with. All the Marvel movies I think(except for maybe IM2) are going to age better.

1. Captain America(since Cap's my #2 all time I doubt this will change without a kickass FF movie)
2. Iron Man
3. Spider-Man 2
4. X2
5. Incredible Hulk
6. Spider-Man
7. 10. X-Men First Class
8. Iron Man 2
9. Blade
10. Blade 2(so over the top it's awesome)

Funny, IM2 got better for me on repeated viewing. It was still disappointing compared to IM and there are serious holes in the plot, but it grew on me.

I honestly don't see how someone could watch this trailer and not think this looks great. :smt102

In 2 minutes it absolutely nails Spider-Man and his attitude.

I like it but it's not as good as IM1 and it feels rushed and I personally notice it's flaws the more times I watch it.

i honestly thought IM2 was just as much, if not more, "fun" than IM1, but it's definitely not as tight a movie. that said, i could've forgiven all its other flaws had the final battle with Red Whip-Dynamo not been so freaking rushed and short and simplistic. possibly the worst "big boss" battle of any Marvel movie.

I thought the final fight in IM2 is fine, but mostly because I count all the stuff with the robots as part of it and it's like a 15 minute action scene.

IM2 holds up a lot better with the context of Howard Stark and the cosmic cube in Captain America: The First Avenger.
Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Huh.. interesting trailer. Still, a bit weary to see this since this will be like a whole hour of origin to get him into the suit. But Connors/Lizard looks awesome in this and the actor playing Spidey actually quips and isn't a dry sack of wood like Tobey was. I like the general direction too this is taking with Norman being hinted at but they're saving him for a sequel. Then again they could always use the Hobgoblin before Norman. :P

That was really the only good part of the movie, really. I couldn't get into this one.

Yeah what Captain America told really built up what Howard Stark meant being hampered by the tech of his era and just seeing the Stark Expo in the 40s. It all gives you a grander sense of the Marvel world and how key Iron Man has been to it movie-wise.

Yeah the climax of Rhodey and Tony just combining repulsor beams to kill Whiplash was lame. A lot of comic movies seem to have that problem. I thought the Incredible Hulk had the best villain hero fight of the Marvel movies.

I enjoyed the final fight between Loki/Thor. It wasn't too long and was just flashy enough. Plus the end of Thor putting his hammer on Loki who can't lift it due to the enchantment was awesome.
