In a discussion about classic villains returning to the book, Slott noted that a major motion picture was coming up featuring the wall crawler and the villain The Lizard, so he would be sure to use that bad guy in 2012. Norman Osborn will also return to the Marvel Universe but in the pages of "New Avengers" storyline "The H.A.M.M.E.R. Initiative." However, Slott promised another wild moment from the Goblin legacy when Hobgoblin returns to the title.

For all those who are pro-Kingsley fans, have any of you ever wondered what happened if Kingsley had been a part of the Dark Reign saga awhile back and used instead of Norman? I just thought up a few scenerios on the subject and here is my conclusion:

-First off, Kingsley wouldn't be in the forefront like Norman as he would prefer to work behind the scenes as he does in the past. He would no doubt get some figurehead as the face of HAMMER and the Dark Avengers
-Secondly, Kingsley would not want Bullseye or Daken on his team as they would be too hard to control. I can see him getting some other characters to take their place. Although I can see him sleeping with Moonstone and Victoria Hand
-Thirdly, Kingsley would have safeguards against the Sentry and would set him up to be killed when he had no more use for him or realized that he couldn't be controlled anymore. Furthermore, Kingsley would have clones of the Sentry that he could manipulate easier once he was through with the original
-The Hood would never be part of the Cabal as I don't see Kingsley respecting him in any capacity nor would Namor, Doom or Emma be in the group as they could not be trusted or manipulated with any success whatsoever
-Kingsley would never have staged that Siege attack on Asgard personally and would never have been foolish enough to get caught like Norman did. Kingsley would have prepared for the possibility the Siege would have failed and would have monitored the situation from afar rather than get involved.

These are all thoughts off the top of my head. Anyone wants to contribute by giving an opinion, feel free.

This from someone who thinks a young guy dressed as the Hobgoblin whose main motivation for being evil is to score brownie points with an irrelevant female character is more interesting than a old guy who is as dangerous and formidable as Norman Osborn as the original Hobgoblin.
I can imagine you wanting Phil to be the main bad guy behind Dark Reign instead of Norman where he forms the Dark Avengers and HAMMER to win the favor of Norah. He can probably then use the Sentry to bail him out whenever he gets his ass kicked like he usually does or maybe have a storyline where Victoria Hand Stealing Norah from Phil as we all know how she swings.
Actually the titles I could come up with for this main event are Phil Urich: Dark Reign Comedy Hour or Siege: Phil Urich Gets A Wedgie From Valstaff While Trying To Invade.

You are wrong. I like Phil and I think he's a realistic take on a villain which is why he fits in the Spider-Man title. I have no delusions that Phil would have worked as the main bad guy behind Dark Reign.

You have an unreasoning hatred of the character. To the point where it's coloring your judgement.

I actually liked Phil better when he was the good Green Goblin as at least he was the only goblin that wasn't evil or crazy. He may have been a d-list character and a terrible hero but what made him interesting is that he was what Peter would be if he were to don a goblin suit. To me that take on Phil Urich was original.
The current Phil Urich that's running around is just another one of Norman Osborn's bastard goblin children like Gabriel Stacey and is a blatant reject from World Of Warcraft with that crappy costume. Plus, having him seemingly kill Roderick Kingsley( Who I don't truly believe is dead) was just cheap shock-value and a blatant screw-you to the fans who wanted the original Hobgoblin back from where I stand. Also it's just getting so cliche to have d-list characters take up the mantle of more popular characters in order to make them more appealing-if they want Phil to be a villain let him assume his own identity and not use someone else's.
Again, I don't hate Phil Urich on a whole as I liked the original version of him-I just hate the current incarnation of him that Slott and Quesada are forcing on the fans.

I feel sad now looking over this thread and all these pages. All my hopes rest on the whim of a theory. *sigh* All I want is Kingsley to return and have an epic fight with Peter plus do evil horrible things. Is that too much to ask?

So agreed. Amateur hour with Phil is now over and now it's time for the main event with Kingsley.
