Interesting start, to say the least.

Here's where I wish Levitz would revive the "Encyclopedia Galactica" entries from the old days. It be a simple way to explain the situation to the readers, because I'm still not sure what a "Sea of Fire" is here.

I say something somewhat positive about the preview pages, and I get b!tch-slapped over it.

The phrase "sea of fire" is pretty fucking self-explanatory.
The preview shows a sea of fire around the cities.
What exactly are you not clear on ?

Fire is a chemical reaction, per se (I'm being really simplistic here). So there has to be some underlying "event" creating the "sea." I thought it was could be a big sea of lava, but then Jan and Chemical Kid appear to travel to a man-made structure underneath so it kind of throws that idea out the window. Jan and Dirk's comments also imply that the sea might have been man made, possibly created by polution. So is it the water that's catching fire, or the air?

While I think a "sea of fire" is pretty self explanatory, I do agree with using the Encyclopedia Galactica. It would be a nice tie-in to the past and handle information in a much more concise manner.
Do you know what the most frightening thing in the world is?

Look for there to be a "sea of fire," there has to be something that's actually being set on fire in the first place. Fires need some kind of fuel to exist. That shouldn't be so hard to understand.
