Marvel Next Big Thing Hulk "Stay Angry!"

Postby sdsichero » Thu Feb 16, 2012 12:33 am

More liveblogs from Marvel this week. Today's was focusing on Aaron's next Hulk storyline: "Stay Angry!"

Heh, sounds like local pidgin. "Ho, dat Hulk, da buggah stay angry eh?"

http://marvel.com/news/story/18103/next_big_thing_liveblogs

3:04 UltimateKidNova:
We've got Jason Aaron on the line getting set to talk about the next arc of Incredible Hulk, "Stay Angry," which will be illustrated by none other than his PunisherMAX artist Steve Dillon!

3:04 UltimateKidNova:
Steve will be kicking things off and then other guest artists will be joining in as the story goes

3:08 UltimateKidNova:
"Stay Angry flows out of the end of Hulk vs Banner, which has a big, shock ending that changes Hulk's status quo and dynamic again. All I can really say is this is a five-issue story with each issue relatively self-contained for the most part, done by a different artist and in a different location." -Jason Aaron

3:08 UltimateKidNova:
"Hulk is bouncing around the world trying to figure out what's going on and who's beyond it, and he must stay angry." -Jason Aaron

3:09 UltimateKidNova:
Wolverine, Kraven the Hunter and some new characters will show up across "Stay Crazy."

Stay Crazy?

3:10 UltimateKidNova:
"There will be Atlantean mobsters, Russian super soldiers and lots of Big Foots." -Jason Aaron

3:16 Strommy:
@Jacob It will be 5 issues, from #8-12

3:16 UltimateKidNova:
Pasqual Ferry will draw the second issue of "Stay Angry"

3:17 UltimateKidNova:
Jason says after Steve, every artist on "Stay Angry" are ones he hasn't worked with before.

I think it started out questionable, just because making Bruce the villain seemed questionable, but it has gotten better with each issue.

Steve Dillion drawing the Hulk seems weird.

I do not like this book much so far, but hopefully the end of the arc will change my opinion.

I remember Steve Dillon drawing the Hulk in Mark Millar's Ultimates vampire story.

Not thrilled about this :?

I've always liked Dillon's work but Hulk vs Punisher? That's a snooze.

Steve Dillon has become very overrated. It's not that he's bad, its just that his style is more suited for crazy comedic over the top stuff like his Ennis collaborations.

I don't like him on serious stuff anymore. All his faces look the same.

Same here. Although I'll agree with everybody that all his faces look the same. I don't care, though. The only time I didn't like Dillon was during his run on Wolverine Origins.

I enjoyed the hell* out of Aaron's Ghost Rider run, so I may have to check this out.

*pun intended

Wouldn't it be glorious if Hulk squished Punisher's head like a grape? :-D

I've never read a good superhero book illustrated by Dillon.

Actually, I believe it's a pun based on the phrase "Stay Hungry!", which was not only Steve Jobs's exhortation to the youth during his speech at a college graduation, but the title of a Twisted Sister album.

hmmm, so to follow the current craptacular opening arc, Aaron's gonna write Crank, starring the Hulk as Jason Statham? that actually may be kinda fun.
