I liked it, but it was pretty much Jim Gordon's first year in Gotham, co-starring Batman.

Yeah he loved Cyborg on the Teen Titans cartoon. As soon as he saw him in JLD today he was like "Look Daddy Cyborg is all grown up now!"

Cyborg was so lame in this..a maggufin who's suddenly a world class scientist and gets the crap kicked out of him by Vandal Savage.

Who must have watched a different version than I did because I thought he was awesome! He looked fantastic, took down Wonder Woman, and was the one that actually beat Savage in the end!

yeah this is one they really should have just kept just like the story, didn't need savage instead of Ra's. Basically it felt like the rest of them, just ok.

I liked. It's probably in my top 3:
1. Batman Red Hood
2. Green Lantern First Flight
3. JL: Doom

I didn't like Cyborg. He's was a huge MacGuffin that you could see coming from the very beginning. In a movie starring the standard JLA lineup my head kept singing "which of these things is not like the other" from the moment he appeared. And what made it worse is that he filled that role in the story more then once. It would make the uninitiated wonder how the JLA ever literally survived without him since he bailed them out at every turn. It bugged the shit out of me.

In regards to the voice acting, it was nice to see DC has finally figured out who their audiences favor. They even got Vandal Savage's voice from the JLU cartoon too - kudos! But they missed a big one when they didn't cast Cyborg's voice actor from Teen Titans IMO.

Speaking of voices, as I said it was great that they got together the Timmverse cast including Micheal Rosenbaum by why the fuck was he playing Barry Allen? :?

Claudia Black was an excellent choice for Cheetah. Not sure if Cheetah really has an Australian accent in the comics but Black's delivery was strong and had just the right amount of menace.

Metallo was...really weird looking.

Fuck you guys I liked Hal Jordan. They gave him a lot more screen time then he got in Crisis on Two Earths, his lines were true to character and his defeat was genuinely sad...until the writers ruined it by revealing that the victims were robots. That seemed really stupid. Why would supervillains take the time to build robot victims? Wouldn't it have just been easier to hire real thugs to kill? And why did the bad guys just leave his damn ring there??

Two notes on the animation:
1. Superman's face looked...off. I can't figure out what it is exactly but he looked more like Superboy then Superman but not really. :smt102

2. I like the art company DC/WB's been using for these movies. Their animation is strong and fluid and they seem to have a good bead on fight choreography (Woman Woman's climatic fight with Cheetah was epic) but these are superheroes and someone needs to tell the artists to put a little muscle on these guys. They always draw the JLA with such slender builds. Only the Flash should look like that IMO.

Lastly, who the fuck was Ma'alefa'ak ??

Batman never shows remorse. He's kind of a dick in case you've never noticed.
avengingtitan wrote:Cyborg instead of Plastic Man

I love Plastic Man. I think his involvement would have been nearly as distracting as Cyborg's but he's still awesome :-D
avengingtitan wrote:BANE ISNT A THUG. He's a villain sure, but he's still a man of honor. They raped him something fierce.

Huh? How so?
avengingtitan wrote:Can someone please make a rule about Superman in space. Either put him in a space suit or dont. It changes every single time.

No. Just between universes. They were pretty consistent about it in the Timmverse but this isn't the Timmverse.

I do however have a pet peeve with how fast superheroes are able to fly to the sun in any universe. I think someone needs to get comic book writers a tape measure 'cause they all seem to believe that the sun is like right next door or something.
avengingtitan wrote:The overall plan of the villains was kinda lame.

It wasn't their plan. It was a bastardized version of Batman's plans so it's understandable IMO that they kinda fucked it up a little when they changed the recipe.
avengingtitan wrote:It, like most of these flicks was wrapped up too fast.

At least it didn't end with the President showing in space tanks.

Then I watched the same version as Fieldy 'cause I didn't like him being there either.

I seriously didn't hear the Barry Allen thing, even from a fucking writing standpoint that was Wally. Obviously someone changed the script to make sure it was in line with the new DCU :smt011

Really fun movie with strong voice casting. (Mirror Master was Alexis Denisof of Buffy/Angel fame right? From the Suicide Squad episode of JLU?)

And I'm pretty sure he didn't take Wonder Woman down either. She literally handed him his ass in addition to his arm that she tore off. All he did was act like a plot device to disable the nanites and hack Vandal Savage's computer.

And the way he got the snot kicked out of him by an advanced caveman was laughable.

Just watched this.

Pros: All star cast (Kevin Conroy and the rest of the JL animated series reprising their roles, Nathan Fillion), retelling of Waid's Tower of Babel, no shitty characters like Plastic Man or Aquaman.

Cons: Hal Jordan, Michael Rosebaum as Barry Allen instead of Wally West, Vandal Savage instead of the superior Ra's Al Ghul.

All in all worth watching.

Benderbrau wrote:Lastly, who the fuck was Ma'alefa'ak ??

Ma'alefa'ak is the twin brother and archenemy of Martian Manhunter. Ma'alefa'ak was the only member of the Martian race born without telepathy and a weakness to fire. Feeling ostracized because of his genetic differences, Ma'alefa'ak was the architect of an extinction-level event. This event is known as H’ronmeer’s Curse. H’ronmeer’s Curse was a plague of fire, this curse attacked Martians via their telepathic abilities. Whenever a Martian attempted to use their telepathic gifts or commune with the Great Mind, they would fall victim to the Curse, and ultimately burn to death. With the exception of Ma'alefa'ak's brother, J'onn and himself, nearly all Green Martians on the planet died as a result of Ma'alefa'ak's handiwork. For centuries, Ma'alefa'ak continued to live in the ruins of Mars, unaware that his brother had survived the plague, and had been transported through space and time to the planet Earth. Several years ago, Ma'alefa'ak learned of J'onn's existence, and followed him back to Earth in an effort to complete the genocide of the Martian race, by destroying its last surviving son.[1] Ma'alefa'ak later ambushed Martian Manhunter and assumed his disguise in order to infiltrate the Justice League and began his plans to take over Earth. Martian Manhunter managed to recover and helped the Justice League defeat Ma'alefa'ak. When Martian Manhunter opened Ma'alefa'ak's telepathy during a fire, Superman and Orion used a Boom Tube to save Orion while Ma'alefa'ak is consumed by the fires. It is assumed that Ma'alefa'ak is deceased.[2]

Created by John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake in 98.

I liked it and all, but i gotta agree with what everyone is saying about Cyborg, the ONLY reason he was in the movie was for diversity and possibly the synch up with the new 52. I HATED that Barry was the Flash. if they are gonna cast the ENTIRE JL cast, they should play the characters they originally played.

And Bender I looked up Ma'alefa'ak after i watched it. In the comics he's a martian like j'onn but he doesn't have telepathy or a resistance to fire.
