I'm looking to pick up a gaming laptop to play a bunch of windows based games. Anyone have recommendations?

Keep in mind I don't have the slightest idea how to upgrade anything on a computer so I'd need it to come out of the box ready to be run optimally

That's good because upgrading laptops is almost physically impossible except for a few Dell models.

As for what you need it depends on what you're going to play. Knowing the games you want it for = the game requirements = machine you need.

My hate of Windows made me give up on PC gaming.

Sorry for the late reply.

Near as I can tell it shouldn't be a problem. According to Amazon Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II required a 3.2ghz or any dual core processor and a 128mb graphics card. The ASUS Republic machine says it has a quad core processor and a 560mb graphics card so it seems okay to me.

I wish there was like a service at a store where you can have the guy build you some badass laptop rather than buy something and have to upgrade shit. Discriminates against us computer illiterates.

There are companies that will build you custom desktops. Never heard of anyone making custom laptops though. Try Googling it. Maybe you'll get lucky.

If you're willing to overpay, companies like Dell will let you customize a laptop.
