All great.

The only blips are the Secret Invasion arc issues which were horrible, and The Invisible Woman Has Vanished which wasn't bad, but a slight dip..

All in all, about 10 bad, or lesser quality issues out of an 80+ issue run.

I liked the Invisible Woman arc.

Personally I find X-Factor to be inconsistent, every time I get close to dropping it, it finally delivers an excellent issue. I still feel that the hight point was the Madrox baby issue (#39), everything since then has been somewhat of a let-down.

I did enjoy the recent Exiles-esque arc, and I'm excited to see what Havok and Polaris are like as team-members, but to say it's up there with the best comics in the medium is a bit much.

X-Factor is better than Watchmen.

Give me some mainstream examples of team books that are better.

Thunderbolts is up there, but Parker doesn't have nearly as long of a "its been a great book" run as PAD dfoes. He didn't really, IMO, come into his own on TB till after FI

X-Men Legacy might be a contender
never read it, but I heard good things about Batman Inc
would IDW's GI Joe: RAM count as mainstream?

I honestly did too. I mean it wasn't the best art ever but the characters were still fun to read and the story was still incredibly strong. mediocre art doesn't kill a book. Heck, Aaron's Ghost Rider run is proof of that.

Hate to say it but I'm with Chris on this one. Watchmen is nowhere close to Moore's best work and I'd easily recommend something like X-factor to people before I did Watchmen. :smt102

X-Factor grows on the reader only if he is aware of the whole run, while Watchmen stands on its own, making it easy to get. But I understand the meaning of the post, in terms of which kind of stuff we recomend.
To develop their conscience and consciousness, to make them aware of what is going on, to prepare the precarious ground for the future alternatives—this is our task: "our" not only as Marxists but as intellectuals, and that means all those who are still free and able to think by themselves and against indoctrination, communist as well as anticommunist.

meh
depending on if the person is a comic reader already
if not, I don't think I'd reccomend somethign so muddled by continuity that soon

I don't recall anyone saying X-Factor was the best comic in the medium in this thread.

Best X-book? Yes.

But what Punchy said is another debate entirely, that wasn't really being had prior to him making that post.

Thus, my poking fun at the Watchmen thing.
