Apparently Furman will be selling the scripts at cons and stuff...

Beast Wars - The Unpublished

Didn he later tweak it for his IDW Beast Wars story?

Yep.

Makes you wonder what was tweaked, though.

I wish they would have kept all of the duplicate Japanese Transformers out of IDW's series. I had NO problem with LioConvoy or anyone from Beast Wars Neo but all those duplicates were kind of annoying... and they made the cast ridiculously large. Even I had a hard time keeping track of everyone.

And I DO have a score card.

Dunno but it didn't read as well as the Dreamwave stuff to me.

I like some of the dupes... and actually I don't even remember who was in the comic anymore.

(I am talking backstory from the cartoon, like Ikard and Rockbuster; I liked many of the Japanese allegiances better)

I hope that Shout! Factory gets some of these series released for American audiences so I can finally watch them. I've only seen a random ep or two on youTube but didn't like the quality.

I don't think they were very good (I just read synopses).Did like toys from both (I was buying up Japanese Beast Wars toys for a while)... I guess I'd prefer to see how BWII turned out more than BW Neo.

I'll definitely agree about the toys. I wish they'd release the LioConvoy toy in SOME form like they did with BigConvoy. Some with pretty much every Neo toy and with Galvatron. About seven years ago, I was keeping an eye on the LioConvoy/Galvatron two pack when it was still available on BigBadToyStore. It was still pretty reasonably priced but I never pulled the trigger and bought it. Ah, regrets. :)

Meh I'm not a fan of the Japanese Beast Wars characters. I want more BW Megatron and his impending takeover of Cybertron which Furman set up in the final BW mini.

Does anyone remember Go-Bots by the way? That crappy cartoon made me appreciate the Transformers franchise even more-even though Go-Bots came first.

Megatron is the boss. I honestly would love to shoot the idiot who made him into Galvatron in the 80's movie and cartoon. If it ain't broken don't bother fixing it.

Barely remember Gobots, watched a few eps but not much. Didn't care for it much.

I think Hasbro bought the name. Also had a character named Leader-1.

Cy-Kill was in the Dreamwave comic.

Yeah, I was aware of that. It shows that the Go-Bot's own creators Hanna Barbera didn't give a shit about them either in the long run.

I guess it all depends on how far back you go. Tonka's Gobots line was based mostly on Bandai's Machine Robo line in Japan. That started in 1982 and was ported over here as Gobots in 1983 but I think saw more widespread release in 1984.

Hasbro's Transformers was based mostly off of Takara's Diaclone Car-Robots line in Japan. These toys began to be released in 1982 and were ported over here as Transformers in 1984.

Both lines changed the theme of the toyline in similar ways. In Japan, these robots were piloted by humans while the Gobots and Transformers were both living aliens split into good and evil factions. I know this is chicken/ egging things but the TOYS are about the same age. It's only their American release that differs and I wonder how much the riffed off each other and what was just serendipity.

I like some of the Gobot toys, though. They could have used more poseability but so could the G1 Transformers. Leader-1 and Cy-Kill were pretty awesome little toys.
